Flame Man trying to imitate TV show sparks massive N.Y. inferno, mayor says

An inferno that destroyed or damaged nearly two dozen buildings in a city in upstate New York was sparked by an amateur bladesmith who apparently was trying to imitate something he saw on TV, officials said.

Flame

I mentioned this to DH--he's a big fan of Forged in Fire. No, he will not be trying to forge metal! He's always been fascinated with blacksmiths and their work.

If he does, he should check out the local community centers. Ours offers a number of fun classes like bladesmithing, casting, glassblowing, pottery, etc.

Also, successfully forging a blade based on what you learned from the show is going to be like performing a criminal investigation based on what you learned from crime dramas.

What, crime dramas sacrifice accuracy for a storyline?!

Say it ain't so!

Come on, if people couldn't solve crimes based on watching crime dramas, then the Ping Pong Pizza gang would never have been brought to justice...

I am in fact a doctor, but I am not a surgeon. I was thinking of expanding my practice and doing surgery based on TV shows. No good?

Make sure you practice your "pound on their chest" technique, it has saved hundreds of fictional lives.

Also, I'd keep a quantity of Bic pens about your person for emergency tracheotomies.

1. Precordial thump is actually a thing, but it is not recommended now except for very specific circumstances. Also you DON'T SHOCK ASYSTOLE ("flatline").

2. If I get drafted when we go to war with N. Korea, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.
