It's because Jones is popular enough that Twitter doesn't want to risk actually alienating his fanbase, regardless of how many TOS violations get accrued.

I saw some articles where they said that twitter hoped this might cause Jones to "change his behavior." Um....sure.

I think they're just trying to prove they treat everyone equally. I'm sure someone has their finger on the trigger ready to give him the boot the second he proves he hasn't changed.

Default Twitter bans Alex Jones and Infowars for abusive behaviour

Twitter says it has permanently suspended the accounts of Alex Jones and his Infowars website.

It made the move after a number of tweets that violated Twitter's abusive behaviour policy, the company said.

The problem I’m seeing with this though is that his contributors—who don’t hide their connection to him—are still around.

Ok? Why is that a problem with this though?

It's a problem, yes. But I don't see why it's a problem with this.

This is a good start. This is way past due.

I don't know what a "contributor" is, but I assume you mean someone who does something- writing or producing in support of Jones or Infowars or similar, and they haven't been banned yet.

Okey dokey. Well, they don't have his platform or the Infowar website to use to spread their crap. They have to use their own name and connections and then get banned on their own. I hope it happens fast.

In case anyone else has my same concerns -- above link is to Infowars website.

Pikachu, I'd like to request that you post links that either indicate what they link to, or that you provide a warning for links to sites that people might actually strongly not want to go to. I almost never click your links, because I don't know if I'm going to get a news story about something, or if it's going to open a right wing video rant that I don't want to provide ad revenue to.

I was also going to provide further commentary.

The problem is we tend to assume that InfoWars is the whole thing. In reality, it’s actually about three or four separate things (a site called Prison Planet—mostly associated with Paul—and a show called War Room—featuring Mike Cernovich—come to mind).

Then say that.

I still don't know what you are trying to say.

So those places still post on twitter? And that's the problem? And how does that respond to my point that they don't have the same platform of Infowars or Jones specifically and should also be banned?

Please don't just give me a link to a video. I won't click on it.

Well, I mean you can of course give a link to a video- someone will watch it, but I don't personally watch the videos you link for multiple reasons. I'm just asking if you are responding to me personally, please do so with words.

From what I've heard, although Twitter normally doesn't give specific examples of what behavior caused them to ban someone, the action was decided on after Jones' encounters with Marco Rubio and a CNN reporter in the Capitol a few days ago. They do explicitly state that "real-life" behavior can affect their decisions, not just actual tweets. (They're trying, apparently, to address the problem of harassment of users even when the harassment is not itself on Twitter.)

If the other accounts aren't under his name or that of Infowars, I would hope they are watching them closely and will act if they engage in unacceptable behavior.

Not a big Rubio fan, but I was wincing and supporting him. The creature harassing Rubio in that clip is slime, and I really hate insulting slime so grieveslly.

Apparently it’s a Jewish conspiracy now.

It’s a screen cap I took with my iPad. Specifically, one of a Paul Joseph Watson video titled “(((CENSORSHIP)))”.

Don’t worry, I’m figuring out this stupid image size thing. Here are two responses, including one from a guy that got banned from Twitter for doing things that would normally get you banned from Twitter (It turns out that “tweeting porn at people” is not a valid argument).

Paypal is (finally) doing it too.

Incidentally, he’s on Gab.ai (Twitter for Nazis) and real.video (I’m guessing YouTube for Nazis?). Because the way to whine about free speech is…to just take your stuff elsewhere?

I think he’s trying to sneak back on:

https://twitter.com/infowarsarmy/sta...104271872?s=21

I can only hope people are keeping an eye on this account (although nobody I know is following, and I follow left-wing people who follow people like PJW and Trump. I occasionally see tweets from that side as retweets and replies).

Actually, I hope people ignore it altogether.

If you think it's a sock, or if it's otherwise reportable, report it to Twitter. Then stay away from it.
