Hello Kitty Imam opens his warm mosque to Istanbul's stray cats and kittens

But instead of letting these cats roam the cold city streets, Imam Mustafa Efe has decided to open his mosque to everyone. People, and small, fluffy things, included.

Nice!

-- the cats appear to be reciprocating with nice-warm-fur rubs.

Combined with static shocks, if it's anything like my house: "I love you!" *Boop!* *Zap!*

If I hold out a finger, Serenity MUST sniff it. Even during static season. She makes a face while doing it as if to say, I'm going to zapped but I can't help myself!

Yeah, same here. There are some little grey ear-tips and a little black nose that get zapped a lot at my house. Poor Ash!

Muslims traditionally hold cats in high esteem. Their Prophet had a cat named Muezza of whom he was very fond, and there are many stories about how thoroughly spoilt Muezza was.

Here's a trivia question: How often are cats mentioned in the Jewish/Christian Bible?

The 'M' on the forehead of tabbies is for Mohammed because tradition has it that the Prophet cut the sleeve off of his cloak rather than disturb a sleeping cat.

Get a central humidifier if you can. It's hooked to your furnace and will improve your life considerably.

Elkhound--not at all, but I think the Catholic Bible mentions them. I love that story about the Prophet and his cat. When I told DH that story, he replied that Muhammad spoiled his cats too!
