According to this Ted Talk "An extraordinary new medical gel can instantly stop bleeding no matter how severe"
Which is extremely cool. But.. they cite a bullet wound through the femoral artery, which can apparently have the bleeding stopped within the magic 3 minutes. COOOOL! I'm just thinking about all the times when it would be whipped out for less than life-threatening injuries, such as a bullet wound in the thigh, which doesn't nearly kill you, but still bleeds like crazy - you shove this stuff in, the wound seals itself, and gung-ho, off you go, with whatever bits of fabric, sand, and bullet you've just trapped inside the wound? |

That sounds awesome! It would clearly have to come with one hell of a warning label though to prevent your scenario.
"No-Bleedz Jell Xtreme is intended for temporary treatment of wounds only. For all but the most minor cuts and scrapes, see a medical professional immediately!" |

Yeah, I could see everyone wanting a tube of it in their bathroom cupboard...
I saw an ad for a bandaid impregnated with some kind of 'super fast clotting' thing (didn't click through, and haven't seen it since) that makes me think it's not far off |

Cuts on the head - head wounds of even the most minor nature can often bleed like someone turned on a blood fountain. This would be excellent for that.

For people like me, who do not clot (whether from hemophilia or medically induced) this could be a literal life saver.

We've had products like this in our combat medical bags for about a decade.
Unless he's come up with new active components, this is not something to be used casually. Once applied, the bleeding stops, but we need to seek competent medical authorities in order to remove the compounds because there are other effects. However, seeking help later with a living person is much more preferable to seeking a place to put a dead person. |
