Before buying theater tickets, check that you're actually free that particular day. Otherwise, you might need to ask for an extension of your vacations. Or be prepared to see 117 € go down the drain.

Oh, and next time, just in case you make that mistake again, take cancellation insurance. That will keep you from seeing 117 € go down the drain.

Idiot !

Someone can be trollish to you while being pleasant to others. So remember--don't feed the troll.

Iceking, if you're so good at predicting when someone on the road is going to cut you off or pull some other stupid driving maneuver, get out of the way and let it happen.
Trying to send a message to some jackass weaving in and out of traffic or trying to cut off a huge line of traffic is crazy and dangerous.
Plus, people like that will never get the message. They don't get thwarted and then suddenly realize the error of their ways. They get thwarted and get mad at what they see as another obstacle in their precious path.

Don't wear off-white pants to the dog park. For whatever reason, all the doggies like you, and want to jump up on you and get scritches and petting. And they usually do so after running through the muddy area around the fountain.

You're not a gardener. You know using the rake for a long time will cause you blisters, just like it did last week. I shouldn't have to tell you to expect other garden tools to do the same.

Seaboe, now with blisters in the palm of each hand.

D'oh!

That stop sign you rolled through this past Wednesday evening has only been there for several years. You go up and down that road several times a week. Try to be a little more observant next time! At least the policeman that caught you doing such a boneheaded thing only gave you a warning.

When you're posting something on Snopes, make sure it's the right thread.

(I *just now* realized that I posted in TYSHTTP instead of Memes That Annoy You. )

If you forget to water the plants, they will die. Then you'll be sad. Remember to water the plants!

The new blue trash can is for recyclables: plastic, paper, aluminum, and so on.

I don't think bags of cat poop are recyclable. Make sure you toss the results of scooping the litter box into the right trash can.

If you leave unwashed dishes sitting in the sink, you will get ants.

You're 55 years old. You can say "no," even to desperate friends (especially to desperate friends who you've spent part of every day of your three-day weekend helping). She got herself into this. You've done your part to get her out. You're not obligated to do something you hate, that stresses you out, just because she asks.

And if you have to cancel, you're not obligated to reschedule. Apologize, yes. Reschedule, no.

Do not look at houses that are outside of your price range. It will only lead to longing and misery.

Depending on how far out of your range, Cervus, it might not be too bad. I saw a house I loved - the one I am living in now - that was listed about 25% higher than I could possibly afford. I showed the sellers exactly what I could afford, showing bank accounts, income statements, etc. and they went for it. They were highly motviated, as the husband had taken a job in FLA 2 years earlier, and the wife was tired of living away from him and taking care of the house herself.

Dear self,

The next time one of your friends refers to Caitlyn Jenner -- or any trans person for that matter -- as "it," say something. Don't just sit there afraid to rock the boat and speak up, then kick yourself later for not doing so.

Nothing will change if nothing is ever said.

And think of it this way... if he responds positively, then you've helped someone see change for the better. If he responds negatively, you'll know he's not really someone you want to be friends with anyway. For you it's win-win.

Sincerely
TGG

A lady friend of mine went on a Tinder date with a woman and one of the very first things her date said was that she was a feminist who thinks that transsexual women are just men playing dress up. The date ended there.

Don't feed trolls. Seriously, don't. It's never worth it. Just hide out until they get the shit smacked out of them with the banhammer.

When you stay up late and you are tired that's really not the best time to walk down memory lane thinking about the lower points of your life. You've already put all that stuff behind you and there's nothing you can change now anyway so why let your mind go there?

The next time you overdo it with physical activity and strain something, go to the chiropractor immediately, instead of waiting two weeks so you're good and stuck.
