What a waste of resources, considering that the Illudium Q -36 Explosive Space Modulator will do the same job at a fraction of the price.

It's job creation, what could possibly go wrong with that?

The waste of resources is making me very, very angry.

The rest of the "hills" are not easy to live in. I suspect your acquaintance would run into more trouble than he expects, in either case. Of course, I also suspect he isn't going to do anything but talk. Though I hope I'm not wrong. *The local fools are another matter. |

But "Life Star" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

It's nice to see that our government has a sense of humor about things.

Standby for the petition response to be spun as "A waste of taxpayer resources! Doesn't our government have better things to do with its time than make up gag articles? How much taxpayer money went into the time to research and write that response??!?!!??!?!>!" in 3... 2... 1...

In fact, the Yahoo comments showed that a lot of people who comment there 1.) lack any sense of humor at all, and 2.) are jerks. |

If they're anything like the people on the video game forums I frequent, they probably think the Chief of Science and Space should have been using that valuable time to solve the debt crisis.
ETA: And it's not even as if the response was entirely frivolous. The last couple paragraphs call for more people to pursue careers in science, technology and engineering, all of which would benefit the country in the long run. But I guess if anyone on the government's payroll looks like they're having fun, they must be wasting taxpayer money... Last edited by Tom o' Bedlam; 13 January 2013 at 01:25 AM. |

The White House announced this week that it has increased the threshold to receive an official response from 25,000 signatures to 100,000 signatures. The new threshold applies only to petitions created after the change and, as before, petitioners have only 30 days to gather enough names.
