Default Social media erupts as Lewandowski tweets report on Manafort's ties to Ukraine

I saw this happening live last night.

A New York Times investigation into Paul Manafort’s time consulting for Ukraine’s ruling political party has revealed that the top adviser to GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has ties to a large network that Ukrainian government investigators say was used to loot assets and influence elections.

It created a stir on Twitter when former top Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, who was fired after clashing with Manafort over campaign strategy, tweeted a link to the article minutes after it was posted.

Following through to a link within the article posted, I got to the Times article referenced. From that article:

Handwritten ledgers show $12.7 million in undisclosed cash payments designated for Mr. Manafort from Mr. Yanukovych’s pro-Russian political party from 2007 to 2012, according to Ukraine’s newly formed National Anti-Corruption Bureau. Investigators assert that the disbursements were part of an illegal off-the-books system whose recipients also included election officials.

In addition, criminal prosecutors are investigating a group of offshore shell companies that helped members of Mr. Yanukovych’s inner circle finance their lavish lifestyles, including a palatial presidential residence with a private zoo, golf course and tennis court. Among the hundreds of murky transactions these companies engaged in was an $18 million deal to sell Ukrainian cable television assets to a partnership put together by Mr. Manafort and a Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, a close ally of President Vladimir V. Putin.
It appears to be unclear whether the 12.7 million was actually paid to Manafort. (He denies it.)

I think it's interesting if what Twitter is worked up about in this is that Lewandowski pointed to it, rather than the question of what Manafort may have been or may still be up to.
