I love stories like this. And the photo and words spoken by him make me think that he got more out of it than intended. Poorly worded... He didn't do it just because, he did it because he wants to do it.

Good for him. I always have liked him, even without Star Wars. Seems like a good guy.

I agree it is great to do the charitable appearances, but was it really not possible to work it around the promotional appearance? I would not be surprised if the promotions team decided it would be more effective to do it this way to get more ink about 'Hamill skips out on promo to be a good guy' stories.

There is a skeptical part of me that wonders why the best times for him to visit sick kids is during prescheduled publicity events, or why he needs to tweet photos of himself doing it afterwards, but that's just me being cynical, right?

Heaven forbid anyone should think I am less than cynical , but I feel the same way about this that I feel about some corporate good deeds that garner publicity: so what if they wring the most public goodwill out of it that they can? At least they benefit someone else in the process.

I could see a publicity event being scheduled, and possibly the star suggests that a hospital visit would be as or more effective than the scheduled event at garnering publicity. Win-win, right? I find it hard to find too much wrong with that.

Whew! I read the title as MH skipped out on the kids. I didn't sort it out until I read through to the second paragraph. I was about to get mighty PO'd at my favorite voice actor.

What's wrong with that guy. Doesn't he know that these promotional appearances can mean the difference between a flop and a box offi... What's that? Really? In one weekend?

Never mind.
