Default The joys of selling and buying a new house

It has been a very busy few month and will be for a couple more. First the moving, then the min 3 hours of the road everyday and the job requiring lots of overtime.

I got permission from my wife to put our house up for sale last Christmas and move closer to work. So we put the house on the market Jan. 4th and received 2 offers on the 5th. Well we ended up closing on the sale Mar 15th. and no longer live in Bellingham and lost our wonderful view of Mt Baker. At the same time we put down a offer on 5 acres of land with a older home (1946) that need some work in Lake Stevens next to Lake Cassidy. Managed to get a 3.625% interest rate with 20% from the sale of my home and closed Mar 31th.

Now the fun of moving everything out of storage and into the new home.

At least when we get moved in the drive to work will be about 20 min.

It's like my uncle used to say.

Figure out the budget of the project, and about what amount of time it will take.

Then, triple the time and double the money, and you'll be pretty close!

Congratulations!

Congratulations, Drizzle (do you mind if I call you Drizzle?). Your description made me think of Don't Fence Me In for some reason:

Give me land, lots of land,
Under starry skies above;
Don't fence me in.

I enjoy working on my house and this one will keep my busy for next 5 years easily. First move in and then go room to room tearing out drywall and plaster. Bring wiring up to code since there is every type of home wiring in the walls back to post and tube wiring. Add insulation to the exterior wall and put up new dry wall. Last of all install a new hardwood floor. That should keep my busy for the first year.
