Icon103 Dandy Don

Comment: Years ago (1970s?) I was watching Monday Night
Football. Howard Cosell and Don Meredith were two of the announcers. I
can't remember who was playing but one of the teams had a player named
Dick Little. The announcers were talking about him and I swear I heard
Don Meredith say, "I don't care if he does have a little dick, I still
think he's a helluva nice guy". There was silence in the booth for a
couple of beats and then they went on with the broadcast as if nothing had

I have never found anyone else who heard this and have never heard it
mentioned anywhere. Although I can't remember any details other than the
statement itself and who said it, i swear this is what I heard.

Have you ever heard any similar stories? Did I really hear this?

It would have had to happen early in the game. My memory is that Dandy Don let Howard and Frank Gifford call the game and just got a bit tipsy after a while.
Sounds too trite though.

According to the NFL site there was no NFL player named Dick or Richard Little. I do not know if they list every player ever, but it seems they do (there are players listed with 1 year experience from the 50's and no career achievements for example.)
