Let me guess, after five days of agonizing pain, the rattlesnake died.

Always check for consent before kissing!

-- principle not limited to human kissees. Come to think of it, also wise for dogs, cats, horses, and probably everything else that can bite, scratch, and/or sting.

Default Florida teen fraudster was writing to-do list when authorities arrived

Florida Man apparently has a kid sidekick:

Quote:
When police arrived at Phyllistone Termine’s home in Miami-Dade County in March 2016, they found the now 19-year-old writing a to-do list, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The list included plans to buy strangers’ credit card numbers and security codes on the internet, the Miami Herald added. It also included the tasks “Buy Online, Merrick BNK & CCVs,” and “Buy 3 phones, 1 clean 2 dirty’s.”

Interesting. I do wonder how Florida's drunk driving law is written.

Maybe it doesn't specify anything about operating a motor vehicle. -- hmmm, apparently it only says 'vehicle'.

I suppose a horse could be considered to be a vehicle.

(New York State law does seem to specify "motor vehicle". I expect there's something a drunk person on a horse on a major highway could be charged with, though. I note Florida also seems to have charged her, in effect, with endangering the horse.)

Yeah, I wondered about that, too. I could maybe see the "Driving Under the Influence" part, but the driving what part had me wondering.

If she fights it in court, it'd be interesting to hear the arguments.

Florida law 316.073 says that anyone riding an animal is subject to pedestrian motorway laws.

Quote:
The provisions of this chapter applicable to pedestrians, with the exception of s. 316.130(3), apply to any person riding or leading an animal upon a roadway or the shoulder thereof.

You can be arrested for DUI while riding a bicycle in Florida; there's no requirement for a vehicle to be motorized. Because horses are a means of transportation, I guess I'm not surprised that you could get a DUI for one. She was also riding the horse on a highway, which you aren't allowed to do.

Huh. IMO this doesn't really go with most of the Florida Man stories.

According to the article, it turned out he did indeed have the proper paperwork; he just didn't have it with him.

On the one hand, I can see getting the tattoo on the principle that one might not have the paperwork immediately present, and/or that even if the paperwork was on site the emergency crew might not otherwise look hard enough for it. On the other hand, the doctors had a point that if one's changed one's mind, it's a lot easier to change a piece of paper than a tattoo, and so the tattoo might remain even if the decision had been changed.

For the last several years of her life, my mother carried her non-hospital DNR everywhere she went. If we went out to dinner, she'd doublecheck that it was in her bag, and that I knew where it was.

Default He’s going to prison for shooting a cop. The cop taunted him with K-Y Jelly in court.

Rojas’ shots missed the officer’s son, AP reports, but ended up hitting the officer three times, according to police. The officer shot back, but Rojas fled the scene by stealing another vehicle, and then barricaded himself in a house. Other officers pursued him, and shot Rojas three times before he was apprehended.

When the officer spoke at Rojas’ sentencing this week, he pulled out a bottle of the personal lubricant K-Y Jelly, the Florida Times-Union reports.

“I brought a little gift for you,” the officer told Rojas, according to Action News Jax. “You will need it where you are going.”
