I just had to escort a roadrunner out of the sun room. I left a door open by accident and it wondered in but had trouble finding the door to go out again. Thankfully they don't fly enough that it hurts itself while inside.

Good thing that a coyote didn't try to come in after it. Who knows what would have happened to your house.

One of my race cars had an engine by Acme. My wife and FIL built it.

We had one wandering in and out of the lobby about a month ago. My boss was very bitter that every time he raised his cellphone to get a photo the bird ran out the door.

A toilet bowl spraypainted gold, just sitting underneath some trees next to the road. I spotted it as I was going by in a bus and didn't have time to snap a photo.

On the way to work this morning I saw a shiny, red classic VW Beetle waiting to pull out from a side street. Nothing really odd about that; lots of people restore old VWs. But as I glanced over to admire it as I drove past I noticed something odd about it -- the turn signals were on the bumper. All the ones sold in the US had the turn signals on top of the fenders. But the Beetles that were built in Mexico until the early 2000s had the turn signals on the bumper. So someone must have imported this particular Beetle from Mexico.

Then later I saw a pickup truck with an odd license plate. It was just a string of numbers: 7917971. It must have been a personalized license plate, because the randomly issued ones contain both numbers and letters. But I don't have the slightest idea what it means. It's the right number of digits to be a phone number, but why would someone put that on a license plate? The phone number of the owner's business, maybe?

Must be Leet for something like Thank God I’m Too Good To Lose (or The Good Life The Good Truck Life... or many other possibilities).

Someone left a computer tower sitting outside next to the dumpster at my apartment. They didn't even bother to put it in the dumpster. Not that that would be better since putting a computer in the landfill isn't proper disposal technique, but really, it's like they want someone to steal it and try to obtain personal info off it.

Glasses

A very early Studebaker pickup truck, beautifully restored. It may have been a 1936 version--I had only a glimpse of the license plate.

Last night I saw a trailer being hauled on top of another trailer. Ok, the first trailer looked like it was in pretty poor condition and probably had something wrong with it that prevented it from being towed on its own, but I thought it was kind of funny.

A few days ago, I was driving behind a car, towing a trailer that read "This trailer was WON!" with the info from the business it was won from. The trailer looked old and rusty, so my first thought was "That's not a contest I want to sign up for!"

Maybe they do want someone to take it and make use of it. We sometimes put things out by the curb for others to take. Either they don't know/care about the personal info on it, or they might know how to remove or properly erase a hard drive.

I saw a car with the license plate WKI L1E or something like that. I read it as wiki lie, and expected there to be a website, or for it to be something that would turn up results in a search, but I didn't find anything.

Odd thing I heard:

I was in the grocery store this evening when I heard Wild Wild West- the 80s song by Kool Moe Dee. I have not heard that song since I was 6. Not even the schlockiest 80s radio stations in my area play it.

There are usually usable parts in an old PC. The power supply in particular is often still good and it can be used in wide range of other computers. CD and DVD drives are usually usable in pretty much any other computer as well. If the person pulled the hard drive then there is little risk of anybody getting any useful personal info from a discarded computer.

Well, they left it on the ground in the rain. And while I don't know for certain, I suspect that the people around here who can properly wipe a computer would not have just let it sit like that.

Wiping a computer is really the hard way to do it. Taking the hard drive out and smacking it with a hammer is a lot faster and more effective (and more fun).

Sure, but if you're going to leave it out in the rain by the dumpster after doing that, would you put the thing back together? The tower was completely intact.

I mean, you or erwins could be completely right about the situation. I'm just reporting what I saw because it was so unusual.
