Fight Two Exotic Dancers Brawl Over $1 Bill

Two dancers at an exotic club in Juneau have been cited after they allegedly brawled over a dollar bill. A Post-Crescent of Appleton report says one of the women is pregnant. Dodge County deputies say they were called to Silk Exotic last week to break up a fight. They say it started when a customer tried to give a dollar to one of the dancers but the other dancer took it.

It's apparently Juneau, Wisconsin, not Juneau, Alaska.

And there are people who think we should get rid of the dollar bill. Obviously it is worth quiet a bit to at least two people.

That's pretty sad. We're often told that stripping means big money, but obvously not enough in this case that people aren't counting every single bill.

I have a feeling that there was some serious baggage between the two brawlers and that this fight was less about the money than about their previous grievances.

In all seriousness, I would guess that crock_hunter is correct.

Though that does not refute Chloe's comment either.

Yea, while obviously there is no way to know for sure I suspect it's less about needing that dollar so bad you are willing to come to blows over it and more about other factors.

That was my first reaction.

I am sure there is something of a range, depending on the day of the week, events that draw customers to the community, weather, etc. I had to take the deposition of a stripper about the conduct and profits of her business. She was dancing in a middle range club in Atlanta metro. The dancers had no salary, tips only. She testified that a bad night (usually weekends) was around $2-300, and a good night would well exceed $1,000. I know it is just a single anecdote, but it was a first-hand account (well, when it was told to me, now it is second-hand to you) of the sort of income a dancer actually pulled in, rather than what she reports for tax purposes.

The fighting could also come from the fierce competitiveness the dancers have between each other. For some things they have each others' backs, as it were, but when it comes to pulling in the money, they are more competitive than NBA players going for a rebound.

And I cannot help but think that if they had staged it right, they could have made ten times more money that night with the fight than with the dancing.

Well, yeah, I am sure that is exactly why there was an article in the news about it.

I am pretty sure that is exactly why it was broadcast on a localish newscast. Probably as a "humorous" piece.

I will not speculate on why it was re-posted here.

Like staging a mud wrestling event? Yeah, probably.

That was my first thought too. Also the girls might have been under the influence or some combination of the two. Strip clubs generally let dancers drink some alcohol while working and many even look the other way on drug use since those things often lower inhibitions. When I was working as a bartender at a restaurant we would regularly get dancers from the strip club down the street who might have 5 or 6 drinks (usually some drinks and some shots) on their way into work.

Yeah, there were a couple of clubs in my area that were pretty infamous for the drug usage by the dancers, to the point that they'd be shooting up within view of the customers. Never figured out why the cops didn't raid the place.
