I don't doubt that these are real photos, even if a lot of them are obviously staged.

I don't consider some of them parenting fails at all. Some are just accidents that happen during play or when carrying a baby (No. 2, 19, 46 - I'm using the hypertext numbers, not the actual positions of the pictures), some are in bad taste, but not a fail (4, 8, 14 30, 35, 37, 41, 44, 49, 50) and some depend very much on the situation and the circumstances (Is the snake fed? Is the knife-thrower a professional? Is the "Miller light" boy (No. 16) maybe the bar owners son? Is the car driving in No. 20? Does No. 28 show a once in a livetime situation or a regular treat? Is the kitchen machine off the main power in No. 39?)

No. 51, on the other hand, is a serious fail, and somebody should call the SSD!

Don "Why did No. 43 make the list at all?" Enrico

Some of those I wouldn't call parenting fails - I'd call them "Parents with a wicked sense of humor and a camera."

Very true! I shared them because I thought they were funny, the sunburn one did bother me as I feel so bad for the baby but even that can happen to some kids rather quickly even WITH sunblock. Still poor thing! As always when I post I use the original title even if I do not think it fits. The best one is the Satan one IMHO.

I did think a few of them looked off though it could just be me, like the one with the stroller and the upside down baby and the toddler with the lion.

It doesn't look like mama duck has all of her weight on that foot, either--I'm guessing she would have felt the duckling and quickly got up.

I find most of the photos more disturbing than anything, and I can't imagine why people would laugh at the cigarette shots. I just shuddered. There were far too many of those.

I didn't like the cigarette shots, either, but I did giggle over the baby on the grill.

The cigarette shots were the reason I chose that icon for the OP. I did too AW.

I suspect the one on the first page with the pole dancers are the pole dancers' kids. The lighting, arrangement of people, and type of audience (i.e. it is not dark room, lit stage, and men in the bar stools pulled away from the stage) do not look like a strip show.

I'm not bothering counting to number, so...

The kid in the cage outside the window -- I am SURE that I read these things actually existed at one point. They were popular in the dense urban apartments. Anyone got a cite for this?

The sunburned kid -- It happens. It happened to me when I was a kid, it's happened to my kid (although not as much because she's got that naturally sun resistant Asian DNA). Don't understand what the bad parenting is unless one completely neglects the sunscreen and whatnot.

Guys playing catch with a kid in the ocean -- I see this all the time. Must be a California thing. I don't see anything in the picture that would indicate dangerous waves or an undertow, and the water is sufficiently deep. Depth perception of the camera also probably makes it look like the kid is flying a lot farther and higher than he really is.

Kid peeing in bottle -- Yawn. Welcome to Asia.

Kid in a kennel -- My kid used to LOVE climbing in the kennel!

As for the staged pictures, I don't know that I'd use cigarettes as props, but I have a picture from when the kid was a baby, she was sleeping, and I put a couple empty beer cans and some playing cards near her. Maybe I've just got degenerate friends, but everybody who's seen it thinks it's hilarious.

ETA -- A ha!

Ducky made me snort. I like baby in the microwave too. But I'm bad and going to hell.

Let me put your minds at ease. Yes, ducklings do pop right back up.

The sunburned girl happens to even the best of parents. Imagine my unending guilt when we found out the hard way that spray on sunscreens weren't effective on Duckling #1. Loved the baby on the grill and the baby in the microwave. The staged ones I found questionable but I've made some equally questionable pictures of our kids. (Duckling #1 stripped down to her panties and then covered herself with marker. I had to take a picture. It would have been criminally negligent not to.) The Nazi parent though is clearly a parental fail.

I love the part in Towknie's ad about the net that prevents kids from crawling back into the room. I understand why the net is there, but it sounds funny.

The baby chewing on the snake made me scream. That freaked me out. The little girls face on the "penis cake" pic is priceless lol

Yeah, the snake chewing one was creepy for me, too. Even if the snake doesn't strangle the baby, ew...salmonella!

Also, what's going on in Asia that people have to pee in bottles? I'd rather pee on the ground (or preferably a bathroom) than keep it in a bottle. Keeping it in a bottle reminds me of that awful bulimic Lifetime movie with the Pink Power Ranger and her absolutely disgusting collection of plastic containers with vomit.

I actually remember that movie. That made me queasy. Also Brittany Murphy's character did that in Girl Interrupted. Thats always disturbed me.

I have a cat bed in the shape of a dustbin complete with detachable lid. Ex's goddaughter loved to put it on its side, take lid off and get in there with her head poking through the cat sized hole.
