Found out today that a very good friend of mine lost a first cousin on that Ethiopian Airlines plane crash.

He described his cousin in such detail and brought a human face to the tragedy.

It is such a loss.

The liquid hand soap in the women's bathroom right off of the lobby smells like Hawaiian Punch.

Why would you create hand soap that smells like Hawaiian Punch?

It's Chinese, plays short videos, and may be raiding your bank account. This site recommends a way to kill it with fire: https://www.2-spyware.com/remove-tik-tok-ads.html

Think about that. One, that there is such a thing as a "premiere" US military cemetery (it’s the one where everybody who's anybody wants to be buried, to the point they continue to get more and more restrictive on who can be buried there). Two, that we’ve effectively made a tourist industry of dead service members. The tomb of the unknowns, complete with ceremonial guards, is a particular favorite and gosh it sure does look pretty from the stands (there are viewing stands for people to crowd in and watch the changing of the guards—no flash photography please).

Now, conversely, I haven’t been back since, even as I now actually know, or rather knew, some of the people buried there. It’s a NFBSKing tourist attraction!
So, I went to Arlington yesterday. I have to say it was (or has gotten) worse than I remembered. They had freaking tourist trams just past the visitor center. And neon-vested crosswalk attendants to guide tourists along specific routes. I just about lost my shit, because the grave I wanted was way off to the left, away from all my tourist attractions. They were actually challenging people who wanted to *gasp* cross the street and go some other direction. The other grave I wanted to visit was cordoned off by road repair/maintenance (you know, for all those tourist trams), and I just got fed up looking for a way around.

I can safely say, I like the idea of being buried at Arlington even less than I like the idea of being dead.

Disgusting.

ASL, I sympathize with you but I'm not quite sure I fully understand your feelings. But I did not serve in the military. There are many other cemeteries that are tourist sites. I know of ones in Paris France and Paris Texas plus in New Orleans. I understand that those there as tourists are not necessarily respectful to those who gave their all. The trams may seem very bad but consider that they do prevent people from trampling every where and doing much damage. Mean while, hope the people are there to pay proper respects even though they are not direct descendants of any one actually interred there.
