Default Feline fury: Florida woman attacked by cat, run over by own car

In case you thought your day couldn't get worse, imagine being attacked by a cat in your own car and then run over by your vehicle as it backed in reverse as you tried to escape. That was the situation for one woman Friday evening in Cocoa, Florida, according to CBS affiliate WKMG-TV.

I wonder if they found the cat. That behavior is unusual and the animal should probably be examined by a vet.

That's what I'm thinking; the cat could be rabid.

Yes, that is very unusual behavior by a cat. Not many of them drive.

Yeah, but it is Florida, erwins. Strange things happen there. Here, trees drop leaves as it gets cold. There the trees drop iguanas when it gets cold. Maybe cats driving in Florida is natural?

Driver

Erwins, if I was not at work, I would be howling with laughter right now!

Wasn't there a driving cat on SNL back in the 90s?

Toonces, the driving cat. Not a good driver, as I recall.

dfresh, I'm actually from there! But, I escaped to a (generally) saner location.

I had to read that a couple times to realize that Cocoa was not the cat's name. Even then, I might not have gotten it if I hadn't know there was a place in FL called Cocoa Beach (Major Nelson lived there in I Dream of Jeannie).

That is odd. I thought, reading only the headline, that it was a cat she was trying to transport without putting it in a carrier, and that the cat might just have panicked and scratched her up while trying to escape. But the story says that the cat jumped into her car in order to attack her; and it doesn't sound like it was her own cat. I'm afraid I'd also suspect rabies.
