Was it purposely misspelled? Or it misspelled by mistake? |

We used to have a whole thread of funny signs called Sign of the Times, but it seems to have gone... it was pretty old so would have been closed anyway, but it might have been good to link to!
(Although what with Photobucket changing its terms, half the images would have been broken, so it's time for a new one either way...) (eta) Hang on, it's still here, it's just called "Signs of the Times" and the board search apparently doesn't stem plurals... Signs of the Times I was right though, most of the images have gone so it's a bit disappointing at the moment! |

One from years back, at my office cafeteria: the soup of the day was chili con carnie.

At a grocery store ages ago I saw a hand-written sign proudly advertising "3 Muskeeters" candy bars. Ew.
I joked to one of the employees about how it was spelled wrong. The next time I was there, the new sign advertised "3 Musketters". ... I mean... come on people! The spelling is right there on the box! |

A few years ago, the Home Depot sign had a few lights blown out. The Home Depot became Ho Depot.

What's wrong with that? It is one of the best opening dishes when you are serving dry rube barbecue.

There used to be a flea market across the road at the end of our street. When they started tearing the building down (back in August) a hand painted sign appeared declaring that "TrepAssing will be towed".
It is evident that the 'A" started out as an 'i'. It is still there. Photo "I have a photo, but cannot be bothered with Photobucket's nonsense" Bob |

I used to occasionally pass a sign advertising "BackAchers Campsites."
I wondered for some time whether it was an accidental misspelling for Back Acres (as in, here's this nice quiet spot in the back acres of our farm which we've made into a campsite). Eventually I saw an article about the place, which made it clear that they'd done it on purpose, attempting to attract people whose backs were aching from long drives or other tension and who wanted a nice relaxing campsite to rest their sore backs. It would have backfired on me entirely. Every time I saw it, I thought 'who would want to stay at a campsite where they expected to wake up with a sore back in the morning?' |

I took this at a park in Maui in 2005. I'm sure I posted it in the old thread, but with Photobucket's changes you won't see it there anyway. So I'm reposting with a new host.

It's not funny in a typo kind of way, but I once went to a burger place across the street from a high school. They had a sign in front that said something like, "Hi students! We appreciate your support, but you CAN NOT skip school and hang out here!"

I don't know if it's still like this or if they've fixed it by now, but several years ago in south Jersey there was a Wells Fargo and half the letters were out, so at night it just said "WELL F"
