Get your mind out of the gutter! It's a silicone ring that's put on an e-cig to prevent it from rolling away. Here is a sample.

Spit Take

Steely Dan likes to pick up things and run around the house with them. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen paper wads in the bathtub. In this case, DH was chasing after Steely trying to get the ring back. A young cat leading a disabled 60-something man on a merry chase! Eventually Steely Dan dropped the ring and went onto something else. I'm grinning just thinking about the incident.

But you know what he's named after, right? (Albeit indirectly, I assume...)

Maybe I shouldn't mention this! If you don't, then perhaps you shouldn't look it up!

He's probably named after the 70s/80s jazz-rock band. :-) The band, of course, was named after what you're thinking of.

Maybe I should post in A Thing You Learned Today.

I knew the band. I did not know what the name meant. (I do now . . . )

Yes he was. I knew that I was indirectly naming my kitty for something else, but I thought that Steely Dan was a great name for a grey animal.

Last Friday, Pearl was being examined by the vet (turns out she has 2 slipped discs). Part of the examination included a reflex test. The vet used the same type of hammer and in the same way that physicians use. Pearl's tail was wagging the whole time, whether from happiness or the reflex caused by the hammer.

A number of years ago, one of my sons wrote a poem for my wife on a sticky note on her computer screen, and it included the couplet

She acts like she's 2
She laughs if you say "poo"

So, LTTMMG? Poo.

Read This!

Tabloid headlines at the checkout counter in the grocery store. Here are some recent samples:
The Enquirer: TRUMP GOING AFTER SCIENTOLOGISTS! along with insets of celebrity Scientologists
The Globe: CURSE OF DIANA CONTINUES! Charles buys voodoo doll to try to lift curse. Insets showed HM Queen Elizabeth with the caption 'heart failure'; Prince Charles with the caption 'dementia'; and the Duchess of Cornwall with the caption 'liver cancer'.

Well, this is a more of 'made me laugh outright than giggle', but I think a lot of folk will appreciate the funny here:

My friend "Mary" had a baby shower recently. Now, I knew Mary's parents had immigrated from Germany, but I had always presumed they did it together as an adult married couple. However, Mary's dad and I got to talking at her baby shower, where Mary mentioned to him that I had also been in the Army. Mary's dad had also served in the U.S. Army. Apparently, he and *his* parents had lived in a small German village near an Army base up until he was 14, when they emigrated to the United States. When he turned 18, the Vietnam War was really ramping up, so he decided to show his patriotism to his new country by joining the Army. He figured he'd get sent to Vietnam (since it was about the time of the huge build up)....and instead, somebody said, "Oh, you're a native German speaker,"....and sent him back to Germany. To the very Army base he used to live near as a child.

He said he was a little annoyed at first, because he'd wanted to prove himself to his new country, and he didn't see the point of going right back to where he'd come from, but he said on the flip side, it gave him a chance to reconnect with the cute girl he'd gone to school with and figured he'd never see again when his family moved to America, and they got married, so when he went back to the States, she came with him. (D'awwwwww.....)

What makes me giggle is the key rings for the bathroom keys that medical offices have. For example, the keys my dentist office has are attached to toothbrushes; my podiatrist, orthotics; my eye doc, a small plastic wreath with googly eyes attached.

Dang it Weird Al, I can't listen to a song you have parodied without wanting to "sing" your version of the song. Sometimes his version of a song is actually better than the original.

I'm that way this time of year with the Cthulhu Carols from the HP Lovecraft Historical Society. Especially "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Fishmen."

Not so much a LTTMMG, but a LTTMMHappy. One of my favorite webcomics was Casey and Andy, a comic about two mad scientist roommates. The author of that webcomic also authored the novel The Martian, source of the eponymous movie. Nice to see him have some success since he was authoring the webcomic before things like Patreon were popular.

GenYus, that is really cool. I had no idea that he had written The Martian, mainly due to a lack of sexy Satan in the book and movie.

I've read that Don McLean sometimes has to resist the urge to sing Al's lyrics when he performs "American Pie" in concert.

That is kind of funny. "American Pie" was the song I was listening to when I thought of this.
