Default Jarhead, Grunt, and Gyrene

I noticed a previous long thread discussion on the term "Jarhead," here somewhere.

Here's some scoop...

Man, that was a quick banning. What happened there?

Military GunnyG

I just visited his personal website. It is a personal library of cut and paste copyrighted material. I would submit that this guy has, in the past, completely taken snopes articles wholesale to host on his site.

My thoughts.

That'd make sense.

And it was definitely a quick banning...

Plagiarism is a big no-no here, so even if it wasn't snopes being plagiarized, I doubt the management looked kindly on it.

It's always interested me this - if I look for some things on the internet I find sometimes several pages where each page is word for word exactly the same as the others.*

How could I possibly know which was the original, and which were the plagiarised versions? I know one must be the original - but which one.

*I am not counting any results that lead to snopes and copires thereof in my question, because I fully trust that that snopes is original research, and any copies are the plagiarism.

Well, I think that is part of the reason why plagiarism on the internet is such a problem and to be discouraged. Unless you know the original source, it's sometimes hard to determine the validity of the information. And, as a (admittedly lapsed lately) writer, I don't like the idea of anyone using unattributed writings.

For written (books and such) works, check out this site by John P. Lesko, one of my old professors at the University.

Yes, but, did John Lesko REALLY write that site?
