Judge Q&A, the show Americans should have

Since your country is run by a gung-ho idiot supported by similarly dangerous people, I think a show like this could at least get the ball rolling on extinguishing SHS’ makeup supply.

Also, putting it out there because they ask to fact-check every episode and not all topics covered are Australian (and, well, we occasionally give John Oliver fantastic material).

Further hijack - I thought it was all a joke until a visitor to Australia who was there at the time the announcement was made actually took a picture of the sign when they toured the ward at the Australia Zoo! Its really there.

Well played Mr. Crowe.

I was a bit mad at John Oliver, because at first, I thought he was serious about it being the last episode. Then I found out that his show has been renewed into 2020. Still a bit mad, but at least he’s given me something to ponder until his show comes back: What the heck are those koalas up to?

Mostly not having babies. (Chlamydia makes them infertile). Baby Koalas are very cute, so no koala babies is a bad thing.

Well, according to John Oliver, koalas are nowhere near as cute as you might think.

I'm wondering if koalas are like pandas. When it comes to pandas, with everything I hear, I'm like, "Are you sure God doesn't want this animal to go extinct?" Because pandas seem to suck at all aspects of, well, living. From what I've heard, zoos and sanctuaries have to give them panda porn just to get them to, well, produce little pandas. The most basic act that most humans and animals can and will do under nearly any circumstances and pandas have to be coached on all this. But people think they are the most adorable animals ever and thus, they make good mascots for fundraising, which is probably why they've stayed around.

I wonder if something similar is at work with koalas where, while they are popular with the public and make good mascots for fundraising, they really, really suck at life. But I admit I don't know a lot about koalas except they are marsupials who live in Australia and eat eucalyptus leaves.

Anyway, I'll just fishslap myself and leave, if it's all right with you.

I’m watching the show live right now. It’ll be on the website in several hours, and it’s one with Bob Katter (who had an entertaining tantrum over Anning’s remarks) and Pauline Hanson sitting next to each other.

For those not quite following: Here is Fraser Anning’s maiden speech, where he idiotically advocated for a “Final Solution”. Katter (his boss) stated that he supports Anning “a thousand percent”, because Anning didn’t go to University.

I wonder the same thing about both species as well. Yeah, they're cute--I guess, but my lands, the former don't even know how to make love and all the latter eats are eucalyptus leaves. I don't like seeing animals go extinct anymore than the next person, but maybe in these two cases, it was meant to be.

Note that pandas only have trouble reproducing in captivity, their breeding rates in the wild are comparable to many other animals.

You could slut slur the koalas, but remember: When you point a finger at a group, four fingers are pointing back at your group.

Okay, from here on out, I will be like, "How come this animal hasn't gone extinct?" towards koalas, not pandas. Because everything mentioned in that link Keeper of the Mad Bunnies showed me, sounds contrary to the basic rules of survival.

Sorry for having turned this thread into something about Koalas, but I like debating these things, why animals for whom everything about them seems to violate basic rules of survival, somehow manage to stick around. It's one of the reasons I adore this profane rant about Ocean Sunfish. There are times you want to say, "Go home, Evolution, you're drunk."

As interesting as that conversation is, I’m actually bumping this in the hope that it clears up at least one of the things I’m talking about in the racism thread.

Also, they had a bunch of high school kids on last week. The kids were quick to point out that as a whole, Australia is hella racist. The picture was a racism. The absolute lack of indigenous studies is also a racism (and leads to words such as “Aboriginals”. The word, back when it was accepted, was “Aborigine”). Sending Tony Abbott to be the Indigenous Affairs Envoy? Probably also a racism.

Also, some wag wrote that we should have an Abbott-Proof Fence.
