I'm impressed. The article has only been out there for two days, and you're already getting complaints. Proves that the loons are paying attention.

Maybe so, but only a left-wing lunatic would reproduce such offensive asterisks.

Fancy reading that word as anything other than "fussing"! Some people have a *very* dirty mind.

It's easy - the * is silent.

I hear it in my head as "bleeeep"... or sometimes "niffbisk" as well.

Really? Must be a regional thing. Round these parts, we put the emphasis on the *.

Comment: I count on you and your web site to set me straight on the
veracity of an email before I forward it on to friends. I accompany it
with, "Snopes says .."

Much to my disappointment and surprise I happened upon a reference that
seemed out of character for snopes.

The other day I was looking for the truth concerning the "margarine is
awful, butter is better" email that has been floating around. I used
"butter margarine" as my search words. The first two references were about
sexual activity, butts, and a newly wed game.

I was surprised and disappointed as I always considered your web site and
the Mikkelson's to be above that. If you would like to attract
truth-seeking people, please be more family-friendly.

Which two references? I put the same terms through the Snopes search engine, and only two articles, one of which was probably the article this person was looking for, came up. So either snopes has been deleting naughty articles lately, this lady is hallucinating, or she did the search through the wrong search engine.

Well, the article about the dog and peanut butter legend came up, so that qualifies as sexual activity. Since "butter" contains "butt," I assume she misspelled something and got the "Up the butt, Bob" legend. So, she's not crazy, just stupid, prudish, and whiny.

Comment: While surfing the Snopes site, I came across an article about the
youngest person to give birth, at 5 years of age. I was shocked as I read
down toward the bottom of the article to see a photo of what I assumed was
the 5 year old girl in question. To be honest, I was so shocked that I
quickly backed out of the page. I wasn't expecting such a picture to be on
the Snopes website, plus my parental control filter usually blocks such
material.

While I am sure this picture was printed in the interest of science, it
was very shocking and disturbing to me. Perhaps a warning of the picture
was listed and I missed it, I don't know. As I frequently visit this site,
I would hope that you would remove the picture, or provide a graphic
warning so that other's who don't wish to see such material won't stumble
on to it as well.

Because ... the picture in question is so sexually graphic?

Sometimes you really have to wonder what it is they're trying to protect other people from, exactly.

BECAUSE SHE'S NEKKID!! Dear Lord, you can't have nekkid children on the internet, even when they're not showing any of their naughty bits. Just seeing one picture of a nekkid girl could change your son into a raging pedophile, and would you want that on your concience? WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?

Comment: Girls making out with each other on your landing page. Horrible.
Come on! Please take off the soft-porn lesbians off your landing page
advertisements. It is very offensive.

Unless you're a lesbian, of course.

Emailer, why are you so bigoted?

Comment: re: Masercard wedding.

Please put a warning about offensive or foul language at the beginning of
the stories. I just read the one about the wedding and was not happy about
the wording. This is the first bad language that I have seen from you.

But by then they've already seen the word "****." The answer is to warn them that the article may contain a word that rhymes with a word that also rhymes with "****."

Comment: I find your site invaluable in helping to prove or disprove the
many rumors which reach my ears or inbox. I do have one request, though.
Could you please edit the recent page about Piper Palin supposedly
flipping the bird?

http://www.snopes.com/politics/palin/piper.asp

I had read your article about the rumors which have followed Mr. Rogers,
and was in hearty approval that you refused to reproduce a similar
doctored photo of him. Would you please blur or modify this image so maybe
this malicious attempt at humor will eventually die out?
