I won some money from Publishers Clearing House. Ok, I won $10, but that's $10 I didn't have before.

And as an added bonus, your mail will be inundated with junk mail.

My wife and I did PC for about a year when we were first married. We didn't get out from under the junk mail for almost 10 years. We didn't win anything, although we got a bunch of cheap plastic kitchen gewgaws as an "incentive" at one point.

Edit: to make this more in-line with the thread topic, it made us happy when we tossed out the last gewgaw, finally putting the whole, shameful episode behind us!

And baby smiles. Honestly when you make eye contact with a baby and they smile and laugh at you it's so heartwarming, makes me feel good for hours afterwards.

It was a standard sized check in a large envelope that I almost mistook for junk mail except for the fact that it said "prize check enclosed" on it. Actually in a way it was still sort of junk mail because in addition to the check it included another envelope that contained all the usual PCH advertising.

You know, I did sort of wonder if they just send some of the entrants $10 every once in a while as encouragement to keep playing (or just make the odds of winning a $10 prize high enough to have that effect). Sort of like gamblers are more likely to keep gambling if the slot machine pays out a small prize every so often.

Either way, unlike crappy gewgaws I can actually use $10.

I send in the prize forms every once in a while, without ever ordering anything. The only thing I've ever gotten in return is more envelopes full of prize forms, with the required stickers for the forms mixed in among stickers for all the things they want you to order. No geegaws. No checks either, though (so far at least . . . )

ETA: if I'm trying to match the thread, it makes me happy to imagine winning a Large Prize, and imagining how to spend it. Not gonna happen, I don't suppose, but fun to imagine.

PCH stopped sending me mail years ago, which makes me happy.

1. I didn't need novocaine to replace my filling today

2. A few of my students have taken up a small but genuine interest in the physical newspaper. I will be bringing my family's previous day copy to work and then when the kids are done with it I'll bring it to the art teacher who can use it for various purposes.

My nephew has a new puppy. Her name appears to be Milly (I only heard that second hand through my brother in law). She's learning to walk on a leash, and apparently she's not very good at it yet.

Legs by ZZ Top I remember the episode of the Muppet show which inspired it - such a great tribute.

My own thing: after waiting many months, the plumbing specialist will come on May 3rd to install the missing part. As the part acts only as a dust cover, it is not critical to the operation of the faucet, but it's not as pretty as it should be.

It's the first truly warm day of the spring, so everyone is out. Driving around even in the early hours the streets and parks were swarmed with people walking about, and the neighborhood is currently atwitter with playing children. Once I've deemed I've done enough work for the day I'm going to enjoy a cold glass of sweet red in the backyard.

I woke up earlier than usual for a weekend morning and got most of my day's to-do list already done.

Drawback- I'm hungry for lunch now

My car needs $2,000 in repairs, but it's all covered by the extended warranty. It even covers a rental car until it's ready. Woo hoo!!

Heavt breathing

My friend "Jane" only has has mild sleep apnea and will simply need some kind of a mouth device, not a full-blown machine.

Ferdinand was an enthusiastic walker this morning. I'm starting to gear up for On the Move, so need to increase how far we walk every day. That's much easier to do when he's not dragging his paws.

We got a "snow day" today due to ice and standing water. In April. We hadn't had one all year.
