iTunes, when I buy an album, I want it in the same place, with the songs in the order they appear on the list, not in two places, with one song in one place and the others in another. Especially when it's the second song on the album.

Context : I recently (well, yesterday) bought The Greatest Showman soundtrack. And discovered that iTunes had put two albums in my library : one with the second song ("A Million dreams") and the other with the rest of the songs. Not the first time they did that : the soundtrack of the Flash episode "Duet" was victim of the same weirdness. Wonder why.

It distinguished between tracks that have different artists linked to them. It’s such an annoyance! It cannot handle compilation albums or most classical albums.

I don’t think there is a quick fix other than editing or removing the artist details on the song metadata.

Excel-what do you have against initials? Every time I try to use 'WOs' you change the O to lower case. I don't want it lower case; it's an abbreviation for Work Order; the plural being Work Orders. Presumptuous much?

Yes, I usually check when importing CDs that it thinks all the tracks are by the same artist, and sometimes have to edit it several times to get it right... I think you can put the extra details in a note somewhere so that it preserves them without messing up the album classification, but it's fiddly.

DS,
You can turn this off. Go to File -> Options -> Proofing -> AutoCorrect Options, and uncheck Correct TWo INitial CApitals (yes, that's how it appears in the window).

Dear spammer,

I don't have kids, so your "You have received a personalized Father's Day card" phishing email won't work on me at all.

That you know of.

I once got an email that told me one of DH's cousins--who lived in the Philippines-had recently died and there was all this money just waiting for DH and I to pick up...

Yeah right. While I'm sure there are people of Polish descent living in the Philippines, DH only has two known cousins and the only one he regularly keeps in touch with lives in Florida. The other one may be in the Philippines, but I doubt it. Ya chose the wrong P-country bonehead!

A little off-topic, but doncha just love the way Amazon has 'sign out' at the very bottom of the My Account drop-down menu? Because none of us know how to scroll down to find it.

I meant to post this a couple of days ago but forgot about it. Dear United Airlines app, I know I asked for push notifications regarding my flights' status, but what I really wanted was information about delays, gate information, and that sort of thing. I don't need to be notified that my flight has landed. I'm on the plane. I can see that we've landed. It was actually kind of funny -- I turned of airplane mode just after we had landed and were taxiing to the gate, and my phone immediately notified me that we had landed.

Also, dear phisher, amexworldcardsusa.blogspot.com sounds like a totally legitimate American Express website. I'll get right on verifying my personal information.

Dear MS Teams: when I logout and click the X button, I really, truly, honest-to-god-cross-my-heart want to logout. I did not make a mistake; there is no need to immediately take me back to the login screen.

If I want to buy a lamp, I will buy a lamp.

If I buy some other piece of equipment, whether it's a monitor or a cordless landline phone or anything else, I do not want it to have indicator lamps bright enough to light up the entire room. Especially if the only thing they indicate is that the device has power.

thorny, who just got done replacing two layers of sticky paper over the monitor's on light (at which point I can still see it well enough to tell whether it's on), and who had to put about six layers of dark grey duct tape over the two lights on the phone -- which nevertheless has no light whatsoever that indicates when there's a message waiting on the voice mail. Those two lights, one of which blinks and the other of which could easily double as a reading lamp, are just on all the time that the phone base is plugged in.

Many years ago, my mother had a digital clock with a seriously bright readout. I don't know where she got it, but she had a small piece of dark plastic that she leaned up against the readout. Worked like a charm.

Dear Google AdSense,

I just looked at that military cold weather mask because GenYus linked to it in the little things that make you happy thread. I have absolutely no plans to actually buy one. Please stop showing me ads for scary looking masks.

LinkedIn, I had to set up an account (at work) because you changed the way Lynda is accessed. This does not mean I want a boatload of emails in my inbox.

DawnStorm, LinkedIn may, even worse, be sending repeated emails to everybody in your address book.

They've annoyed me so much over the years that I don't want anything to do with them.

ETA: to clarify: I don't have a LinkedIn account. I've never had a LinkedIn account. What I get is emails from LinkedIn telling me that so-and-so is on LinkedIn and I should come connect with them there. So-and-so may be somebody I had a brief conversation with six years ago and haven't had anything to do with since, or may be somebody I communicate with all the time by other means and why on earth would I want to bother going through LinkedIn to do so? And for each one of these people there'll be repeated emails before they finally give up.

LinkedIn is one of those sites that gets used maliciously as well. I used to get so many notifications from them that were legitimate and annoying that I cancelled my account (or whatever it's called). That eliminated the real notifications but now, 3 years later, I am still getting the fake notices that "three people checked you out this week". Hovering over the address shows that, of course it's not LinkedIn but I still hold a grudge . Hate them.

I'm like Dawnstorm--I have to have access for work. I delete every email I get from them, and thank the Lord that my personal accounts aren't linked and that my employer has good security.

The legitimate emails are bad enough.

This is more of a LTTAM I guess. My phone's solitaire app updated and now every action or even just the game loading is overanimated and annoying. I know I'm using a phone to play a game, I don't need it to be "realistic" by moving as if anything in it has gravity. I remember this being a thing a lot of software brought out years ago and it was a big reason why I didn't switch to the new microsoft office. I just wanted to scroll and then the screen to stop moving when I stopped scrolling, not "bounce" or "taper" as if I had moved something with some weight to it.
