This morning I saw a black cat cleaning itself in a field along the exit ramp I take to get work. Beautiful kitty and hope that it will be rescued at some point soon.

Is it possible that the cat lives in the area, knows where it is and doesn't need rescuing?

If not, can you report it to anyone?

I thought the man might be homeless, since it is a hangout for homeless folk and he also had a cardboard box with a few possessions. The size and apparent good condition of the drum made this less likely, though. He was reading Dylan Thomas, which I knew because he read the author and title aloud before the poem. (I only heard the author.) The pigeons actually seemed somewhat interested in the man until something startled them and most flew away, causing some degree of indignation in the reader.

Apologies for the not-so-relevant icon in my previous post; I hit that one by accident while posting.

It could be; there is an apartment complex near by. I could report it to the county animal control, but I'm hoping that it lives in one of the apartments or is at least being cared for.

If the cat looks OK, and has a possible home in the area, I wouldn't report it. Might make matters worse instead of better if animal control gets involved -- if the cat disappears because of being picked up, it might not occur to any connected humans to look there.

Plus which, depending on the area and the cat, it might be OK for an indoor-outdoor cat to be outside there.

Not exactly something I saw, just an odd realization - I paid the same amount for my first new Porsche 914 in 1972 as I did last year for my 1984 Porsche 944. That was $4700.

One of the new tenants at my apartment complex out walking her cat on a leash. He's a handsome kitty.

Thunder, lightning, rain!

ETA: Well okay, I heard the thunder but did not see it.

A tomato plant...growing in the dog park alongside a fence. Some bird must have crapped out a seed, or a passer-by tossed a tomato slice. It already has a blossom; one of the other regulars and myself tied it up.
Also saw: a t-shirt whose back depicted a crab climbing out a cook pot. The caption read Just Say No To Pot.

I got out of my car at a gas station in a strip mall, looked down and saw a packrat drinking water from a puddle from a storm. It was about two feet from me and mostly ignored me.

I told the clerk inside and he said"they're cute but evil", which is the truth.

Some friends and I grabbed our tubes and floats and headed down to the river. When we were all getting set and wading into the water a huge flock of ducks landed in the water no more than ten feet away. There must have been three dozen birds, easily, including some adorably fluffy babies. We were all surprised at how close they were willing to come in our direction, especially with young. Several swam right up to our rafts. Perhaps they were used to other humans feeding them? I'm sad that I'd already packed my phone away on shore, the little ones were adorable balls of poof.

Ooh, people should not feed swans. Those things are freaking scary if they've gotten habituated to humans.

Or raccoons! They are also cute, but evil. Two years ago I fed a raccoon..... and they haven't left! I hear them under my house, on my porch and have seen them trying to climb in a window.

Do not feed a raccoon!

I discovered over the weekend that the spiral staircase I mentioned in an earlier post is still in the same yard, but has shifted position as if there were contemplating using it for something.

It strikes me as something someone might say "Oh, I gotta have that, since you're giving it away" about, then have no idea what to do with it.

And I saw the same thing this morning. Same street, different location. It probably fell off of someone's vehicle and someone dragged it to the median to get it out of traffic.

TYSHTTP: When transporting a mattress, make sure it's tied down securely.
