Even scissors will do it IME. In desperation the other day, I was able to saw through a small zip tie with a nail file (not on a gun) and then got smart and used the tip of the file to hold down the little jaw and pulled the tie out.

Along with how quickly you could cut the ziptie and load the firearm, there are no rules against taking your firearm into the bathrooms at the gun show, so you'd have plenty of time and privacy.

One thing having them all zip-tied would do is allow a clear and obvious way to tell (at least for the most part, again the whole "Treat it like it's loaded" thing stands) which guns are possibly loaded and which aren't.
If they made the zip tie obvious (bright color, large, etc) then you would be able to see any body who'd taken it off. No, it wouldn't stop somebody who wanted to deliberately shoot somebody else, but it would help to catch people who just felt that this rule didn't apply to them hopefully quick enough to stop an accident. |
