Default Former Israeli Prime Minister Sharon dead at 85

Ariel Sharon, whose half century as a military and political leader in Israel was marked with victories and controversies, died Saturday after eight years in a coma, Israeli Army Radio reported. Sharon was 85.

I feel bad because I didn't realize until the news started talking about him going downhill that he was still alive. Though in a sense I'm not sure you can call what he was doing living. I'm glad his long ordeal is finally over.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who did not know he had been in a coma all this time. I don't know why this was something that I hadn't been aware of - I'm usually pretty good about keeping up with international news. I blame the Internet.
