Novelist and screenwriter William Goldman, who wrote the beloved cult classic The Princess Bride and won Oscars for writing All the President's Men and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, has died at 87.

Although the movie wasn't a disappointment, The Princess Bride is one time I was really glad I had read the book beforehand. After that I made it a habit to read the book first (but it wasn't always that great - although it did help me avoid some not-so-good movies).
