My mom was out walking, north of Seattle, during the Nisqually earthquake (2001, 6.8, centered in southern Puget Sound), and didn't notice anything. She did notice the Duvall earthquake (1996, 5.6, centered in Duvall) which happened while she was sitting next to the china cabinet.
