I wonder if Kiss suffered from a "it's not about the music with them" perception due to their flashy shows and penchant for making money however they could.

Also, I'm hoping Cat Stevens was given plenty of advanced notice as he'll have to travel there via Conestoga wagon train.

As a Genesis fan from way back glad to see Peter Gabriel make it, though I was never a huge fan of his solo work. Definitely liked 'Solsbury Hill' and 'Games Without Frontiers', but 'Red Rain' and a few others just got overplayed on the radio.

I'm still peeved about Deep Purple not getting in. Same with Yes, but mostly Purple. Okay, "peeved" is a bit strong. Disappointed.

My first thought on hearing his name was "Well, there's one artist that definitely won't be attending."

Not a Kiss fan at all, I do remember pulling into a friend's house after an 8 hour drive in one of my $500 cars. He put on a TV broadcast of Kiss, turned the sound down, and put on Devo.
For some reason, for me, the sound and pictures never really synced up. I could see Gene Simmons throwing a quick look to one of his bandmates ahead of the tongue coming out. It was sort of like slow motion against Devo. It was like they were having a good joke up there. And I guess they were/are.

Yeah, all about theatrics with them...but one could argue they did have influence in that respect.
