I would love to hear how that conversation happened!

Hospital Official: You appear to be American.
Patient: Yes, I am. (This would actually be spoken by the patient's wife, as patient was in a coma at the time)
Hospital Official: I am sorry, but we aren't taking any more of your kind today. Please proceed to the next emergency room down the line.

I don't exactly believe it anyway, particularly because Parkland is famous for taking in patients who can't pay. It's part of their stated mission. They are the hospital in DFW to go to if you have no insurance. (Because of that, they've got a bit of a reputation for treating lots of immigrants; maybe that's where the "I'm an American" thing comes in?)

And I've never been to Baylor Garland, but I have spent a lot of time in Baylor System hospitals, and IME, they all have the standard "It is our standing policy to treat all patients, regardless of insurance status..." posters hanging in the place.

Comment: Gahhh.
Well, I Remember Hearing This On Thee News About a Month Ago.
This Lady Was In Her Parked Car, Exactly Where I Do Not Remember.
Anywayy, I Do Remember That She Had Gotten Shot.
But The Weird Thing Is That She Lived Even Though She Had Gotten Shot In
The Back Of The Head.
The Even Weirder Part Is That The Bullet Did Not Really Hit her.
It Was Stopped.
By What?
Aha, Here Comes Thee Funny Part.
Her Weave Stopped It.
She Had Her Weave On Really Tight, That The Bullet Was Stopped.
Crazy, Right?

I just don't understand what school these people attended that taught them to do this. It's like they attended school on the one day you learned to capitalize proper nouns and that's it. They never learned what a proper noun actually was, so they capitalize all of them. Or something.

It baffles me.

Or they just discovered the CAPS LOCK key and now, like a kid with new toy, They Use It For Everything.

In german, the first letter of all vowels are capitalized, but I don't think that's the reason.

The fablist (is that even a word?) George Ade wrote like this. Perhaps many of these people grew up in the 1940s and '50s when his fables were popular, but still, he only capitalized nouns and adjectives or for emphasis, or some other reason that I can't figure out from looking through some of what he wrote.

I must admit that my knowledge of the old second-person singular isn't what it should be, but shouldn't it be "Thy News"?

I have always wondered what drives people to write like this. They can obviously read. Does anything, anywhere, else that they read LOOK like this? No!

I also strongly suspect yes, they're using the caps lock key. Not shift. No single-key-pressing for caps for them, oh no, let's have press-on, press-off instead. Like a demented Karate Kid version of typing.

Maybe they're learning the UNIX command line, and have discovered 'sed'.

Comment: This was sent to me, and I doubt it's true. Just curious if
you've seen it before:

Subject: Living in Texas has it's benefits

A TRUE STORY FROM...

"THE HOUSTON HERALD NEWSPAPER"
IN HOUSTON, TEXAS
MARCH 5th, 2009
~
Last Thursday Night Around Midnight,A Woman in Houston, Texas Was
Arrested, Jailed, And Charged With Manslaughter For Shooting A Man 6
Times In The Back As He Was Running Away With Her Purse.
~
The Following Monday Morning, The Woman Was Called In Front Of The
Arraignment Judge, Sworn In, And Asked To Explain Her Actions.
~
The Woman Replied, "I Was Standing At The Corner Bus Stop For About 15
Minutes, Waiting For The Bus To Take Me Home After Work.
I Am A Waitress At A Local Cafe... I Was There Alone, So I Had My
Right Hand On My Pistol, That Was In My Purse, That Was Hung Over My Left
Shoulder.
~
All Of A Sudden I Was Being Spun Around Hard To My Left. As I Caught
My Balance, I Saw A Man Running Away From Me With My Purse.
~
I Looked Down At My Right Hand And I Saw That My Fingers Were Wrapped
Tightly Around My Pistol.
The Next Thing I Remember Is Saying Out Loud, "No Way Punk! Your Not
Stealing My Pay Check And Tips."
~
I Raised My Right Hand, Pointed My Pistol At The Man Running Away From
Me With My Purse, And Squeezed The Trigger Of My Pistol 6 Times!
~
When Asked By The Arraignment Judge, "Why Did You Shoot The Man 6
Times?
~
The Woman Replied Under Oath, "Because, When I Pulled The Trigger Of
My Pistol The 7th Time, It Only Went Click."
~
The Woman Was Acquitted Of All Charges.
And She Was Back At Work, At The Cafe, The Next Day!
