Well, NFBSK.

Among his other work, I enjoyed his role on Agents of S.H.IE.L.D. a good deal.

I was a Paxton fan when he was still just "that one guy who dies in everything." Always enjoyed him in whatever he was in, from "True Lies" to "Tombstone." I was happy a few years ago when he was on S.H.I.E.L.D.

So very sorry to hear of his passing.

This goes a bit back, but the first thing I remember seeing him in was Weird Science. He was Chet, Wyatt's asshole jock older brother.

Oh, he was also great in the cult horror "Near Dark" - which also featured "Aliens" co-stars Lance Henrickson and Jenette Goldstein.

I've never been much of a fan of him ever since I first saw him in Twister - I always felt his acting was stretched. [Not trying to be mean here, just being honest]

Storm Chasers Honor Bill Paxton with ‘Twister’ Tribute

Quote:
Storm chasers from around the globe paid tribute to “Twister” star Bill Paxton on Sunday after news broke that the actor had died following complications from heart surgery. He was 61.

Using their Spotter Network markers, hundreds of storm chasers and weather fanatics lined up to Paxton’s initials across the infamous ‘tornado alley’ in Kansas and Oklahoma in a heartfelt ode to the late actor.

Paxton starred in the 1996 disaster classic “Twister” in which he and Helen Hunt lead a team of lovable scientists on a dangerous mission to gather more information about the deadly cyclones. The movie went on to gross $241 million worldwide and became the second-highest-grossing movie of 1996 behind “Independence Day.”

Paxton went on to make the IMAX documentary “Tornado Alley” and often spoke about his fascination with the weather phenomena having grown up in nearby Texas.

Baseball

At one time last decade, he was the subject to a particular statistical quirk.

Someone ran a test of all the actors in Hollywood to see who was the most bankable. They ran every name through an algorithm that matched their credited roles with the box office gross for all their films. They then averaged the total gross by the number of films and came up with their list of "bankable" actors.

With Bill Paxton being in Titanic, Aliens, Terminator, Apollo 13, Twister etc, his numbers far exceeded all the others on the list. So, instead of rejigging their algorithm right away, they produced their list to great waves of "Hmmmmm".

The algorithm was adjusted for the types of roles and is used on several websites, for example:

With a new decade, a Harry Potter Franchise, and a modified algorithm, Bill is now down in the 400s.

Seems like that algorithm still has its issues if a recurring bit-part in the Harry Potter films immediately makes you one of the most successful actors of all time, and the more diverse work you do outside that, the lower you get...
