Okay, let me try to restate my stance: I don't see why porn in particular would be considered especially objectionable over other hypothetical objectionable content, but that's the way I see it as being treated.

I suspect many people would also object to being forced, through circumstances beyond their control, to view a horror movie, a Donald Trump rally, explicit news video from Aleppo etc. This specific news story was about porn.

But there are places in Europe where you can find hardcore pornographic material being sold uncensored in regular shops where kids might see it and yet they still manage to grow up to be normal, healthy individuals.
Slightly off topic - I worked for a friend of mine once and actually lived with him and his wife. One Sunday I went to the newsagent to get the morning papers and their 6 year old boy came along. While i was buying he started rummaging through a few Playboy magazines on sale until I stopped him. It didn't upset him, it just intrigued him. All the way home there were questions like, "Why did those ladies take off their clothes?" and "Do they live like that all the time".

Back on topic, I've travelled quite a lot in Europe, and Spain was the only place I saw it blatantly exposed. That was in both Barcelona and at the other end of the coast on the Costa del Sol. Other parts were more conservitave.

There are softcore porn channels on pay-tv in Germany - and by softcore I mean lots of groaning and moaning in explicit situations as well as nude breasts, but no naughty bits visible at any time - and the hotel may have set the TV without a child protection PIN. If they are renting rooms to families with children, that might already be in violation of the law.

A true hardcore channel for anyone to find without a lock to protect minors would definitly be verboten.

This was definitely true hardcore porn. It was evidently a free preview -- it would let you watch for maybe 30 seconds and then a screen came up saying you would have to pay if you wanted to keep watching (uhhh, I mean so I was told. ). Maybe the hotel unlocked the channel knowing that there were no children staying in the room?

I'm curious as why you put snuff and watersports in the same category. I think there is a lot of room between those two subjects. It makes me confused as to where you stand.

I don't know what it is like these days, but Playboy is IMO closer to art than porn.

AIUI, they don't have nudity at all anymore, they are more like Maxim.

It's not the fact it was porn that was shown, but the consent. I did not say I wanted to watch porn at this moment in time, you're forcing it upon me without my consent is a violation of my righty (can't remember which one but I know it's there).

Because those are the two things that aren't their kink? They're not saying that NO OTHER CATEGORY shouldn't be shown, they just wouldn't be down for those...which most people aren't, in fact, those two and beastiality are usually the top three no go's.

Granted, for a public exibition, I would also put the 'forced' category on there, but you know, mostly because I don't want people confusing fantasy and reality and thinkin that's okay. Too many stupid people exist.

Back to the subject at hand, if you took away the 'trapped in traffic' part, and say...a group of adults heading to the park for a public porn viewing, would your reaction be the same? I am honestly curious, because mine would. I would say more power to them, get some good lube. Many people view porn and sexuality as private, "behind closed doors" things, and I'm curious if that colours how we see this...and this is the downside of having an intellectual interest in sexuality as I ask weird questions.

Presuming that it's clear to anyone who enters the park what's going to be shown, and that it's not going be be visible outside the park to anyone who happens to be passing by, I've got no problem at all with that scenario.

I've got lots of problems for showing off porn to an essentially trapped audience in traffic which undoubtedly included a lot of people who didn't want to see it.

FWIW, I've got entirely the same opinion of showing, say, that scene I haven't seen but have read about in the Scorcese film with the scourging of Jesus.

I thought the really horrific scourging scene was in the Mel Gibson film.

That was two completely different answers to the same question which gets back to my confusion. I'd be interested to where you get the list of three 'no goes' being murder, bestiality and urine. I mean people are okay with scat, but urine is as bad as murder and having sex with animals, (both of which are rightfully illegal)?

But it does change his point to "I don't want to see the porn I don't want to see". Which would mean that they shouldn't be showing any of it publicly because everything is going to fall on someone's no list.

Sorry, forgot to check this thread sooner.

That was in issue with editing: I got distracted while making that post. I'd meant to write "as long as it doesn't fall into things like snuff/torture/nonconsensual content."
