Shifty Eyes

Burnt toast in my house usually sets off the smoke alarm. How would one work that into a glurge?

Never go by the title of a thread. I thought this was going to be about someone having a stroke.

Who would eat toast for dinner? When I was in high school and Da divorced Ma, Da never paid his child support, Ma was only working a part time job at the time, and the only thing I had to eat was bloody buttered toast every evening. I seriously learned to hate toast. By the time I got a job, I would order out pizza once a week for some friggin' variety. I gained a lot of weight in a few years, and it was due to starving on frigging toast every evening in high school for two years.

Hey, I love creamed tuna on toast for dinner! The toast is an essential part of that meal!

I pictured her deliberately burning his toast from then on to punish him for giving her patronizing BS instead of offering to help with dinner.

Totally with you, Crocoduck Hunter...it's not like his penis will shrivel up if he's forced to do something as gauche as help with housework/meal preparation.

Deliberate or not, I just can't get past this: doesn't it only take, like, two minutes to make toast in a toaster? Whoever is going to make it, why don't they just stand up, put two slices of bread in the toaster, and toast the damn bread? It'll be done well before dinner is over. Amiright?

being able to afford a toaster is not glurgey enough.

These people have to make toast on the makeshift stove made out of old metal cans, because their electricity was cut off because daddy lost his job and started drinking!

Well, he set it up so that she would deliberately burn his toast because he told her that that's what he likes. So now the choice is to eat burnt toast (and get cancer) or humiliate your wife by telling her that you lied to her and she's been acting like an idiot making burnt toast for someone who doesn't like it.

But at the same time...who serves someone burnt toast? The only possible reasons are if the person likes it, or that was the last of the bread, if which case you apologize and offer alternatives.

I thought everyone just scratches off the burnt part. I wouldn't throw out a good piece of toast just because it has a little charring.
