Beaver Golf ground rules

Comment: I keep hearing a story that there is a golf course beset by monkeys. The
mischievous critters will play with and move the balls around. To cope
with this, the story goes, there is a rule or sign on the course to the
effect of "The ball must be played from wherever the monkey drops it."

The course usually referenced is the Royal Calcutta golf course, but the
official course site mentions no such local rule. Alternatively, the
story sometimes places the golf course "somewhere in Africa," but is
always said to be an old and prestigious Colonial course.

My dad once had a fox steal a golf ball of his. Apparently, it waited patiently for him to swing, then made off with it once it had hit the ground.
