Up close and personal with local lynx family

Anchorage resident Tim Newton awoke to the sound of something running across his deck in the area of Flattop, last Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. So naturally, he went to check it out.

The very next thing Newton did was grab his camera.

Wow, and I thought my cat had big feet for a kitten!

Mama cat must have been eating well.

I checked three sites, two of which seemed to think that 4 or 5 kittens is a more likely maximum, but the third of which said litters range from 1 to 8 kittens depending on the abundance of food.

As adults are generally solitary except for mating and mothers with kits, it does seem likely that they're all her own kits (if it had been a matter of barn cats, I'd have been wondering whether some of them were neices and nephews.)

OMG you can buy prints and stuff. That action shot of the two kittens playing is adorable. Might need a greeting card size to hang up somewhere in my house.
