Ponder "You heard it here first": Man predicts Cubs World Series win in 1993 yearbook

It’s a quote that has stuck with Los Angeles Dodgers fan Marcos Meza for decades: “Chicago Cubs. 2016. World Champions. You heard it here first.”

His classmate Mike Lee, a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan living in California, made the prediction in Mission Viejo High School’s 1993 class yearbook.

He hasn't predicted anything that's happened yet.

That wording is accurate but somehow seems like a double negative or something.

He has predicted something that hasn't happened yet. We just don't know if his prediction is true.

Yeah, I totally agree about the wording.

The point being, we still don't know if his prediction will come true.

I hope for the best. Maybe it'll serve as a balm to all those disappointed Cubs fans who have waited so long for a World Series win. Because even in terms of curses, you guys are unlucky. At least, the Red Sox were under the Curse of the Bambino, which is kind of cool, seeing as Babe Ruth was one of the greatest athletes to ever play the game.

The Chicago Cubs, on the other hand, were under the Goat curse, which has to be the lamest curse ever. Though at least, it wasn't the goatse.cx curse.

The fishslap is for obvious reasons.

Well, the Cubs have officially won the World Series, so the Yearbook quote was right. And the Curse of the Goat has been broken, so from here on out, if you guys lose, it's because you suck, not because of a barnyard animal.

I don't personally have anything against the Cubs (or the Indians, for that matter), but I still had to stifle a giggle when I overheard someone at the grocery store say, "Here's to the next 108 year drought!"

Well done to the Cubs for breaking their jinx.

If only it was a year earlier & Back To The Future 2 would be very ironic.

Just the same, I wish this could have gone down a year ago so Back to the Future II could have had it right..

It should have been last year but Marty messed with the time line when he didn't race Needles which caused the 94 strike and pushed everything back by a year.
