Woman finds dead frog in spinach

Even Popeye's stomach would probably have churned at the grisly find made by a 32-year-old mother from Vienna who decided to cook frozen spinach for her family's evening meal.

She complained to the supermarket where she had bought the spinach and the manager presented her with a free packet of coffee as compensation, Oesterreich reported.
What odd compensation. I wonder if it made her hoppy...

If it was that coffee extracted from weasel (or civet or whatever i don't recall) poo, then probably not.

ETA if she was dining on frog's legs, and happened to come across a piece of spinach in them, would she have grounds for complaint, and similarly receive a free pack of coffee?

I don't know, but it gives me an idea...

Finding half a frog would be worse.

What about the woman's poor daughter? If she had consumed a portion of putrifying frog she could have become seriously ill - she might even have croaked.

Comment: Rats in ketchup -

I've heard several times that rats end up bring processed into ketchup -
also I've heard more than one reason as to why and how this happens.

Icon402 Couple finds knife baked into Subway sub

Just as a woman prepared to bite into a footlong chicken teriyaki sub from Subway, she felt something sharp.

It was not a hunger pang, but rather the tip of a 5-inch knife embedded in the roll, said Richard Curtin, the woman's husband.

My manager at work claims he was eating pancakes once with some pure maple syrup. He was enjoying the crunchiness of the maple immensely. He thought it was done deliberately until he checked the ingredients to find out what those yummy morsels of pure crunch goodness were in the syrup. He found that it was made out of pure maple...and the bottle was infested with dead ants.

This happened to me when I was a kid. It was not pure maple syrup, and I didn't notice due to any unusual crunchiness, but rather I noticed a couple ants on my French toast. When I checked the bottle, there were ant corpses galore suspended in the syrup. It was not due to any factory contamination, however; we had a minor ant infestation and apparently the bottle had not been properly closed.

This happened at least 20 years ago and I still check the syrup bottle before using it.

We found a live frog once in some salad items, but removed it and gave it to a zoo before passing the leafy bits down the supply chain. I guess that's not so interesting though.

No idea what it was - how many kinds of frogs exist I don't know, but it's a lot - the zoo told us it was a European tree frog, which is a bit vague.
