I love that word too, for the same reasons!

The "fenestration" part comes from a Latin word meaning "window."

Last night I took a way home from work that Iíve taken in the morning but never at night. It was unexpectedly very very dark. On my usual way home there is only one place of about 30 meters of pitch black, down a hill through a little wood. The new way goes by some unlit fields and dirt roads for almost half a kilometre. Spooky! The weather was cool and somehow I managed not to get too muddy. Nice to have another option.

I learned the word from TV Tropes.

I learned the word as a child from the Arthur C. Clarke short story, "The Defenestration of Ermintrude Inch" (part of his "Tales of the White Hart" tavern tale collection). Well, partially. I was young enough at the time I didn't quite understand the connection between the story and the word in the title, so I had to look it up.

Oh that is just awesome. Sounds like the kind of ridiculous character that reminds you why you love comics, like Squirrel Girl. I'd wonder if there were any crossovers, but Squirrel Girl is Marvel and The Defenestrator is DC.

The horticulture dept. of my employer is selling flats of excess summer annuals to any employee who wants them. For $5 each. I bought some yesterday.

The other day at work, there was a guy with a shirt that read "Ask me about my secret ninja identity." He was about mid thirties possibly a bit older. I said ok, what about your secret ninja identity?" he pulled the bottom of his shirt up over his head, and on the underside of the shirt, perfectly over his face was a picture of a masked ninja face. He then took up a "karati" stance with choppy hands. It was so surprising from a serious looking guy in sun glasses. I burst out laughing and had him do it for my boss. Made my day.

Rather belatedly:

That when a sudden gust of wind tried to upend my tent at market last week, people rushed from all over to help.

And, when it turned out later that it was damaged and wouldn't close, somebody pitched in and helped then also.

Good people in the world --

oh yes! and, when I'd removed and pounded flat again the bit of frame that had bent, and put it back in: the tent now opens and closes again.

So far, so good. Now on to the next market, with more weights on hand --

Today, I only had to deal with one end user, and it was a very short, very pleasant phone call. I spent the rest of the day doing network security stuff, which I enjoy. I enjoy it so much that I kept doing it when I got home.

Here's the really cool thing...

If I need a day off, or want to leave early, I just take the hours that I work on stuff at home, and apply them to that day.

They're coming out with a cookbook based on the TV show Hannibal. I know what my brother's getting for Christmas!

I got my car all polished and shined, and got to go to a Cruise Night last night. Met a lot of nice people, got to see a lot of cool cars, and won myself a plaque for the people's choice!

KItap, No! Don't do it. Sure it's a great gag gift, but you'll still need your liver for a long time!

My neighbors were throwing out a really cool-looking table. I am in need of a coffee table, and I'd been toying with the idea of a tree trunk slice like this, but when I saw this out on the curb today I had to pick it up. It needs a good cleaning and a coat of paint...I'm thinking red.

That is a really cool table. Are you going to paint it matte or gloss?

Yesterday we got a check from the state/county because we were eligible for the Earned Income Credit. No the check is not that big, but it's money we did not have before, and getting money BACK from the state/county is always a good thing!
In other news, Hell freezes over; ISIS lays down its arms and turns itself in; Hillary comes clean about her e-mails; and The Donald resolves to be a better saner person.
