At a company meeting today, the CEO specifically called out my work as one of our company's strengths, in front of hundreds of coworkers. He pointed out that our competitor has basically 30 people doing the work that I personally do, and they still gave up trying to beat us and asked me to help them.

I was forced unexpectedly into sales for this week, instead of my usual job. This ends in 1 hour.

Yaaay!

Ooh, and also tomorrow night I'm going to eat Japanese takeaway, my friend is coming over, then Saturday is my birthday, going to go for a hike and to a pub, then Sunday I have to do as I please.

I'm feeling downright chipper!

Finding a 13 year old document in an email archive folder, when it couldn't be found elsewhere.

A customer said something nice about me on a comment card, so my manager filled out a little "thank you for doing a thing" slip and posted it on the wall in the break room where such things go. It's just an 'attagirl,' nothing with a tangible reward attached, but you guys. I work in a place where there's a board just for employees to recognize good work other employees have done. This is so different from the atmosphere at every other job I've had that I just want to bask in it for a while.

I had a very good phone interview with a clinic last weekend and have lined up an on-site interview for early February. I hope this pans out, it'd be great to have a job lined up before graduation in May.

I used to go to work everyday on Evergreen Parkway.

Every tree on that street was decidious.

That always made me giggle.

Found out in a few weeks I'm getting a nice check from the US government. I can't tell you how nice it is to actually receive a letter giving me money as opposed to receiving scary letters demanding money. I can finally look forward to clearing up some lingering debts.

I can remember as a kid looking forward to getting mail and being jealous of adults because they got more mail. Looking back, I wonder if I was an exceptionally stupid child, because getting mail loses its thrill when all you get is nfbsking bills.

When you were a kid, most people still got mail that wasn't bills. Magazines. Letters.

What, to blind the people coming the other way in the fog? Oh, wait, that's what those rooftop lights on mega-trucks are for. Sorry.

Trying a new craft and have it come out right makes me happy.

Years ago, I was walking down a street and came upon a gated complex with a large sign on its gate. The sign read: "The Commons. Private Property."

I can't say that that made me happy; but it did make me stand on the sidewalk laughing hysterically for a good couple of minutes.

There is a business campus development in the Atlanta metro area accessed by a U-shaped road from the main road. The access road is called Great Oaks Way. I remember the area before they bulldozed thousands of great oaks to put in the pavement, building and lawns.

P.S. - They also left a wide surrounding belt of forest, mostly along the large creek that runs through, and the wildlife has probably actually increased, as climax forest is only moderately good at feeding animals, while the lawns provide lots of grazing for deer, geese and other grass-eaters, the dumpsters provide lots of forage for opossums and raccoons, etc., and the forest and creek provide cover and water.

I thought all the roads in Atlanta were called Peachtree.

I've been approved at Apartment Complex #3!
I meet with them tomorrow at 11 am, which means I'll have to miss work, but it'll be so worth it. Thursday will be a month since I've been here(not to mention China at the shelter), and I'm totally over this motel thing.
Wish me luck!
