Police are warning parents to check their kids Halloween candy after a report of someone handing out a tainted treat.

Andover Police tell 19 Action News a 13-year-old found a pill stuffed in a pack of Smarties, about 30 minutes after the village's Trick-or-Treat ended. The teen's parents immediately called police.

Back in the early 80's I remember some parents in Kentucky complaining that a speed freak had put meth pills in their kids' candy stash on Halloween. Nobody was arrested as a result of this and I rather cynically wondered if the kids might have raided their parents' medicine cabinets and then made up a story.

But, hey...the first hit's always free!

Someone in my community was handing out Bailys Irish Cream liquors chocolates.
The kids didn't rememebr where they came from, but each of my kids got one, as well as the kids they were with.

I guess its not illegal -- but certainly not the most socially consiousable choice of haloween treat.
