I'm hoping they at least fitted them with those handy ankle trackers, but at the same time, I would be the least bit surprised if they didn't. I'd be saddened and angry, but not surprised.

Yeah, I can't believe the drop either. $75,000 bail means she only needs to post $7500. That's practically pocket change! I read that she has to wear an ankle bracelet; I'm hoping they took away her passport.

Posting $7,500 assumes she can find a bail bond company willing to risk $67,500 that she will not flee again. I'm not sure how easy that would be.

There's also the outside chance that she's NOT all that wealthy anymore after the various legal fees and lawsuit payments. They were run of the mill millionaire rich, not buy a Polynesian island rich.

I think only the mother has been released on bail, so there's no "them," only her. Isn't the son still in jail in Mexico? That may factor into the assessment of flight risk--they may not consider the mother as much of a flight risk when her son is still in custody. |

She doesn't need to use a bonding company if she can put up up collateral worth $75,000; that can be done directly with the court. That's where somebody who can't make bail can put up the deed to their house or something else worth that amount or more.

True, but that's not $7,500 that Dr O'Boogie was saying was all she had to post.

Maybe he's decided that American jails are preferable to Mexican jails.
More than likely he's figured out that if he allows the deportation, his lawyers will get him bail, and he'll be free for the next 3 years as the case drags through the courts. |

Or at the very least the time he spends locked up in the US will count towards time served.

On the TV news last evening, his father is now being looked for by the police for domestic abuse of his live in girl friend. Plus police now say that they were called to the residence at least 10 times in the past several years to investigate abuse but no one cooperate.

A judge on Wednesday ordered a Texas teenager who used an “affluenza” defence in a fatal drunken-driving wreck to serve nearly two years in jail, a surprising sanction that far exceeds the several months in jail that prosecutors initially said they would pursue.
