D'oh! Trump Rejects Hurricane Maria Death Toll In Puerto Rico

As Hurricane Florence bore down on the U.S. on Thursday, President Donald Trump angrily churned up the devastating storm of a year earlier, disputing the official death count from Hurricane Maria and falsely accusing Democrats of inflating the Puerto Rican toll to make him "look as bad as possible."

But nobody has to bother trying to make you look bad, Trumpy. You do that all by yourself.

The problem seems to stem from how the death toll was established. From an ABCNews story:

Quote:
While President Trump's contention in his tweet that 3,000 didn't die "in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico" is not technically inaccurate, the study never claimed to measure based on such a metric. It instead focused on the number of excess deaths in the six months following Maria's landfall.

For instance, the GWU report also showed that the risk of dying in the aftermath of Maria was 60 percent higher for those in the poorest communities and 35 percent higher for those who were 65 years old or older.
Between the story in the OP and this one, the number wasn't established by strictly taking the number of deaths as a direct result of Hurricane Maria itself, but the storm and the living conditions left behind in the aftermath.

Maybe that's why he keeps Eric around?

That's a valid point about what the study actually measured, but that's not where the problem lies. The problem lies in the fact that Trump is a self-centered moron whose ego is so massive and so fragile that he can't hear any negative news without wildly flailing around for someone to blame. It's like storing a balloon full of feces in a cactus nursery. Sooner or later something will poke its thin, orange skin and feces will spray everywhere.

Too late to edit:

Trump:

This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico.
Your "fundraising" job would have been easier if you hadn't taken almost $10 million from FEMA to give to ICE.

I'm surprised he's not claiming that Democrats were shipping undocumented immigrants to Puerto Rico.

Why would he laud Democrats for deporting illegals to a foreign country?

Glasses

He wouldn't be lauding them. He'd be saying the undocumented immigrants shipped from the U.S. promptly died in PR, thus inflating the death from Maria figure.
