Icon18 Why the stock exchange is closed on Good Friday

Comment: Rumor that the New York Stock Exchange is closed on Good Friday,
not for religious reasons, but for an incident that occurred in 1923 when
a horse drawn carriage pulled up to the front of J.P. Morgan & Company in
New York City, and a bomb exploded, killing many people. The Exchange has
been closed on Good Friday ever since. It has come to be known as Black
Friday. Is that rumpor true?

Nope. The bombing occurred 16 September of 1920; Good Friday 1923 would have been 30 March, and nothing special happened that day (according to wiki)

Maybe they should open it on Easter Sunday this year, in hopes that it will rise again?

Most likely, it was to give everyone a day off for Easter. Since the exchange is closed on Easter anyway (it's always a Sunday), they picked Good Friday.

It's proof that the Jews don't run Wall Street -- the Exchange is closed on Good Friday, but open on Yom Kippur.
