Fight snopes: Universal Ombudsman

Comment: I am wondering if there is anything that can be done to these
people that are on the Internet commiting all of this fraud.(lottery
fraud) I never even begin to respond to them before I come on this site
and look it up but I am so fed up with this. Please contact me with any
info that you feel could help in this matter.

I have just submitted a correction to this website, how do I notify SNOPES
when finding a website with incorrect information?

my posting is as follows:

There has never been any evidence that Charles M. Schulz had ADHD. He was
a model student in the early grades winning awards. I understand your
intention here, but the list should be truthful and therefore Charles M.
Schulz's name should not be included.

Comment: Im trying to call or contact Net Zero because 2 months ago I
cancelled my online service with them but still being billed the monthly
charge. I don't have a phone number to contact them even though I tried
to find it. They should have cancelled the service and I no longer use
their service.

Do a lot of the people who mail you guys think you're some kind of catchall internet customer service committee? I mean, clearly some do, but is this a very common misconception?

And in asking, do I sound like one of em?

Comment: This isn't exactly a rumor. This has happenned thie last week of
april 2008.
I and at least 4 people I've talked to have had emails returned from valid
addresses marked something like - permanent problem with address. We've
also had emails that didn't reach their destination with no return message
of failure.

I've had it happen occasionally in the past but this is about 1 in 5
mails. It's not just within one ISP. People who've had problems are with
AOL, Yahoo, MSN, and Comcast, at a minimun.

Do you have any information on this?

I don't think there's any misconception that isn't common around here ...

Yes, but as long as you stay on this side of the fence and out of our inbox we shall remain BFF.

Comment: I have only just received an email, of course unwanted and am
continually troubled by how they can get my email address, While I do know
several ways, I have to wonder if they make a mistake on how the
information is sent. IN the email, there is a photo, not particulayly
offensive, but where there might be text, the sender has sent numbers and
abbreviations that might and could be taken as code. While I have so
specific understanding of what it is, then
My question is are you able to detect the sourse of the email and if it is
a larger spammer or junk mailer are you able to shut it down or take any
other kind of maneouvre to rid the internet of them.
Would you like me to send the file to you?
There appears to be no virus attached.

Computer

Comment: On the web a site popped up for ErrorSmart.com to clean up my
computer. It asked for money which I charged and ClickBank was the outfit
that charged it on my AMEX acct. The next day I found out from my AOL spy
checker that a file from ErrorSmart (TCL.dll) was a potentially harmful
program Fake_AntiSpyware.TS. Therefore, I uninstalled ErrorSmart from my
computer. How can I do something about this -- report it to ?, just
delete it is enough?

Comment: As much as I love your site, I'm now unable to close it. It
remains on my desktop and I can only increase or decrease the size. I may
have caused this to happen when I tried to create a "shortcut" but find
now that I've created a "constant-cut"! HELP!!!

... and now I can no longer shrink it! HOW CAN IT GET SNOPES OFF
MY SCREEN AND DESKTOP?!?!?!?

I actually have the same problem, but it is caused by general procrastination and an addiction to this site, nit by a computer bug.

Blow Your Top

Comment: I received an e-mail from a dear friend with an attachment that
she thought would help people whose bank cards may have been "confiscated"
by the bank when making a withdrawal. I was flabbergasted as I watched
this video, as it gives a step-by-step "lesson" of how to rig a bank card
slot so that the unwary person using it and not getting their card back
would think that the slot was "broken". The pictures are quite clear and
specific. They are a good course of study for would-be cash thefts. I
would like to send this video to you for your input on whether or not it
should be sent to the police department. I don't know how long this has
been in circulation, but it definitely should be taken out of circulation
and I don't know how to do this.
