I love that one too.
TBH Rankin-Bass actually kept a lot of the darkness in the tale... I don't think they're comparable to Disney.

Jackson's not bad.... he's actually pretty good IMO. He doesn't do any Disney-style slapstick. Although one thing a Disney adaptation may have gotten right would be the characters singing.
