Shifty Eyes Obama wants to control the Internet

The article written by By Drew Zahn 2009 WorldNetDaily, brings to your attention two new bill; S.773 & S.778; both of which will grant our govt and president, control over the internet.

This was in an email forward I received, but I could not find much information apart from ranting bloggers (and a marked silence from ranting Swedes*).

*Anyone else miss this show?

Here's the text of S778: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:S.778:. It merely sets up a Federal Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor to make recommendations to the President. Nothing more. No powers other than to advise on Cybersecurity.

Here's the text of S773: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:S.773:. It sets up a Cybersecurity Advisory Panel to make recommendations on Cybersecurity threats. It will set up standards (including standards for cybersecurity advisors). The licensing and standards are to ensure that the person you hire to handle your cybersecurity has knowledge of the field.

When did Obama change his name to John Rockefeller? And when did he become a 72-year-old white man?

Wouldn't he have to check with the guy that invented the internet first, some guy named Al Gore?

Here's a website that you might want to check out before you pass on the old "Al Gore said he invented the internet" UL.

Grab a sense of humor and have a seat. It was a joke. Obama is no more trying to take over the internet than Al Gore said he invented it.

For what it's worth...I got it, and grinned!

(Besides, doesn't Bill Gates own the internet?)

Isn't this actually kind of a companion thread to the one about the recent report on right-wing groups? This looks to me like a direct response to the corresponding report on left-wing groups, which raised a lot of concern about cybersecurity threats.

ETA: Here's the report. (Thank you Astra, I borrowed your link from the other thread.) These bills appear to me to be a direct response to these findings.

It's interesting that this campaign comes out at the same time it's revealed that hackers from countries such as China have been breaking into computers controlling the US electrical grid.

Which raises the questions for those complaining about the law:

1. Do you want to stop this sort of hacking or not?
2. What sort of laws should be passed to prevent it other than by setting up an agency to look into better security practices?
3. What branch of the government should execute these laws, if not the excutive branch?
