I made more jam last night and once again smiled every time one of the sealer lids pinged (meaning it's sealed). Anyone that does home canning can relate to this, I think. Those pings are happy music.

My feet feel better after my adventures in tree climbing.

Also, I am getting cookware after my roommates poached mine when we moved. I didn't mind about the poaching much, because my stuff was non-stick and everyone had been using metal utensils on them, so they were all scratched up. Now once I get mine I will be the only one using them, so I can keep them safe.

Being told, by two separate people, that I do NOT look old enough to have a 36-year old daughter!

We are in a divorce support group, getting acquainted. Some of these women have young daughters (10; 5) and they asked if I had children so I said yes, I have one. They asked her age and I said 36. They actually looked genuinely shocked, so that really made my day.

The girl at the In-N-Out drive-through said she liked my car and asked what kind it was.

1. I was due to give blood, and checked the blood drive schedule. The local Brusters Ice Cream shop was sponsoring a drive, and I know from experience, they give a free pint of IC to each blood donor. So I got myself over there and enjoyed my pint of IC - the diet can take a little pause for that, especially after a blood donation.

2. I accepted a job offer yesterday. It is only temporary - four months - but likely to become long-term. I had to turn down two other possibilities, and it felt good for once to be choosing among opportunities. Last evening, I went through my clothes to make sure I had clothes that still fit after my weight loss. My shirts are all still fine, but wearing 50-inch waisted pants with a 37 inch waist looks stupid. I found that I had 10 pairs of nice slacks, 3 pair of 'slightly more casual but okay on casual days' slacks, and two nicely-fitting suits. In about 20 more pounds, I'll have several more slacks and suits. I have to be more careful about ties when I wear them, though, as the ties that used to just reach my belt now hang to my thighs (and that is a Happy Thing, too, really)

I am no longer at an obese BMI. I am officially overweight. I probably have been for a bit but it only just occurred to me to check. I have lost 76 pounds so far and have 30-35 to go.

When you are giving a presentation and you notice people in the audience giving the "Hmmm... not bad" nod.

Once I made a suggestion in a meeting and the (IT) architect nodded like that. I almost floated out of my chair.

The unidentifiable little bird someone brought in has grown into a beautiful little sparrow, under our vet nurse's loving care.
Of course we called him Jack

Also, when you demonstrate something and people sit up and start taking notes instead of just watching.

watching the hollywood game night show last night with Kevin Smith, and having a celebrity face swap where Kevin Smith was face swapped with Maggie Smith...

Kevin Smith's charades to get them to guess Good Vibrations made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe .

Also congrats on the new Job.

the last few months have been crazy for me. I was laid off in mid-may, started a 2 month temp job at the beginning of june. Landed a great fulltime job beginning of july. end of july I was offered a job I'm starting on Monday. more senior job, better benefits, better pay. In all my years, I've never received this much attention. having to quit two jobs because better ones came along (I applied for all 3 jobs right after my layoff, just different hiring processes that took longer. It took 2.5 months for the last job to hire me. It took a month and a half to get an interview... I know I'm one of the lucky ones. It feels good to have multiple offers.

LTTMMH: This was actually about a month ago, but thanks to much busy-ness, I forgot about it until this morning.

Quick backstory: Preparing for a family vacation car trip, I burned two CDs of mp3s so we wouldn't have to channel-surf the radio, or argue about music in general. One CD was basically rock(ish) music, the other... anything else. Opera, classical, TV, video game and movie music, swing, comedy.

TTMMH: about half an hour into the journey, we had the non-rock CD in, and Weird Al Yankovic's "Biggest Ball of Twine In Minnesota" came up on the random shuffle. It was the perfect song at the perfect time.
