95% will will ignore this message
2% will laugh at this kid with the assumption in their minds its a Photoshop or nothing serious 2% will be concerned but will not do as required why don't you be among the one 1% to wish this pretty girl a quick recovery wherever she is by just tying #AMEN# in order for her to be healed while she undergoes successful surgery and SHE STAY AND LIVE NORMALLY JUST LIKE YOU ARE...it wont take you a second to do so it would help a lot. ![]() I'm not sure what is supposed to be gained by spreading this picture. I just want to know if it is a real disfigurement or photoshop. And if it is a disfigurement, what caused it? I'm having trouble putting the picture in here but I have it on my computer so if it doesn't work, maybe someone can help me post it. Thanks! |

I think it might be Proteus Syndrome. It's real enough; I'm just not sure of the name. |

It's probably a real picture. It looks like maybe cherubism, like this boy has.

It's an early picture of Marlie Casseus from Haiti. She has featured in a couple of Discovery channel documentaries, in UK it was on Channel 5's 'Extraordinary People'.
There is a wiki article here: Marlie Casseus The original tumour was removed and she had several surgeries to rebuild her face but last year it was discovered that the tumour had returned so more funds are needed to provide more treatment. |

How this would "help a lot" is unclear. Often these post are just a way to collect likes and comments so the pages can be sold later.

As Sjö said, some FB groups will post pictures like that that will attract tens of thousands of 'likes' and 'shares' simply to build up traffic so they sell the group to businesses who then change the page's name and they have a readymade popular page without having to do all the initial PR.
There's all sorts of FB 'share' generators that are completely pointless but incredibly popular. One that's currently doing the rounds is that "Name a band that doesn't have the letter B in their name' or "Name a word that starts with A and ends with E" thing that everyone's probably seen. Here's an article about companies buying popular FB groups: http://www.smartcompany.com.au/infor...databases.html Remember that Facebook may have started off as a social networking site but their business model is now totally centred on selling advertising. If something on FB seems inexplicable on the face of things it's entirely likely that someone somewhere making a buck off it somehow. |

Thanks for all the information, everyone! Poor little girl.
And that's interesting about the way some fb pages are set up. ETA: According to the wikipedia page, she is 21 now. I hope her next surgery is successful. |

Someone can pay you to transfer the administration of a page to them.

"2% will be concerned but will not do as required"
And that would be... what, exactly? What am I supposed to be "required" to do? |
