That reminds me, there's a big international grocery store (mostly Asian, but they also stock some European and Middle Eastern stuff) that has a big food court. The menu is categorized by the nationality of the cuisine, ie. a Vietnamese section, a Korean section, an American section, etc. Except they categorize borscht as "American" food. I found that kind of funny for similar reasons, although I'm sure the real reason it's categorized that was is just because they don't really have any other Russian food on the menu, so they just stuck it there.

In the parking lot of a local Mexican restaurant, a flat boat with a ginormous tall engine on a trailer.

I saw a piece of metal that was either part of the decorative feature for a gate, or a pull-straight handle for something. Given that the nearest fences were wood or chain link, this decorative item was definitely oddly placed.

On my commute this morning I was behind a Prius with a bumper sticker that read "I think the best social program is a JOB" and an NRA sticker. That's not exactly the stereotypical demographic for a Prius owner.

Oh, like the Gasden flag sticker on my Subaru?

Question for all: are Volts made to be driven off road? I ask because this past Sunday I saw a Volt on I95 that was covered in mud. Maybe the Volt got stuck.

Or maybe it had been driven on a muddy dirt road. I live on a dirt road, and my car's definitely not an off-road vehicle.

-- admittedly, if the mud was all over the top of the car and not just splashed on the bottom half, I wouldn't expect that to be a result of driving on dirt roads; at least, not unless driving too close behind someone who was going too fast.

Most of the mud was on the bottom half, between the trunk and rear tires. Maybe the driver was channeling his inner Dukes of Hazzard.

Most people that can afford the expensive off road vehicles such as Range Rovers etc., think that a gravel road is going off road. I will take any vehicle I own including the Prius down almost any 2 track. All it takes is care. What 4 wheel drive means is that you can go twice as far before you get stuck.

Clearance can also be an issue. What I'm driving on dirt roads (as well as, of course, on paved ones) is a Honda Civic. It's got very little ground clearance; I wouldn't take it off road for that reason alone. I won't, for instance, drive it out into the fields even if the ground is plenty dry and firm enough for traction, because a dip in a farm lane that's no problem for tractors (or even, in a pinch, for the work van) could easily cause it to bottom out.

Heck, something left big, I mean big, piles of mud in the paved road in front of my house this afternoon. These look solid enough to do damage to an oil pan.

At dusk I saw something bright fall from the sky in the southwest. Only it didn't quite "fall" so much as appear to tumble. Its brightness seemed to fade in and out, sort of pulse, on its way down to the horizon. The skies are clear and I see no haze or cloud cover that might have caused that effect if the object had passed through it. Normally shooting stars are bright and then fade away to nothing, but this thing was pulsing and looked like a bright object tumbling down. Weird.

Cervus, that's a UFO!

-- well, by definition. It was an object, it was flying/moving in the sky, and you can't identify it. For that matter, neither can I.

Heading north on Roosevelt Blvd, going to FSCJ-Kent campus, I noticed the Florida license plate on a pickup truck in front of me and it seemed a bit odd. It took me a moment to figure out why it didn't look right. The tag number had an "M", but it was stamped with an upside down "W". Hard to spot, but odd for it to be made that way.

Since it's tax season I expected the young lady dressed up like the Status of Liberty in front of a Wal-Mart advertising that Jackson Hewitt had an office inside the WalMart.I was not expecting the live horse next to her.
