Hiring someone to cut the grass is not being lazy! Considering the ordeal you've been through since doing the job yourself, it's worth it. Besides, you'll now have more time to concentrate on the garden areas. Just remember to wear a mask!

I keep telling myself that one, too, DS, but still haven't hired someone to mow. I'm too much of a control freak in this area: I'd only want them to use electric equipment (no gas engines).

I have been sorely tempted to get a small pet goat due to the infestation of English ivy all over my yard. The article mentions poison ivy, but that is easy to kill. English ivy is a much more tenacious pest. I am told that little lambs eat ivy and a kid'll eat ivy, too.

Very nice, both of you. I have a friend who breeds goats, so I know I don't want one. They're much better escape artists than my dog, and I don't want to spend my time trying to fence them in.
